1987 Z28

Hello everyone, I am just new to the board here but have been looking on here for about a week now.

I recently was given a 87 Z28 (305 carbed) with an automatic trany. I am not 100% sure on the shape of the car right now as it is (its been in canada most of its life). I do not have the car in my possession right now but i should be getting it soon.

So after i get the safety and everything i need. I was wondering if there is anything i should really look for? I am wanting to DD it for the summer and do some draging as well.

I am looking to go low to mid 13s in this car. What do i need to make this happen? Motor swap? new rear end? New trany? or just a bad idea? Slicks/ DR? I am wanting to keep this fairly cheap but i want reliability for sure since i am wanting to DD it. I can do some of my own work but nothing wild.

So what do you guys think?

Thanks, Toadie

Welcome to TGO. If I were you Id wait to see what you got to play with. Very well might not be worth fixing up. I had a chance to take a "FREE" F body once...and I passed.

Re: 1987 Z28

Well, i just got the car, it looks to be in good shape and doesnt really need anything (that i dont already want to change)

So i am thinking a 350 swap ( http://www.campbellautomotive.com/mo...1000&page_id=7) (how does this sound? better place?)

New fuel pump (what do you think would be the best?)

New rear end ( should go gears and posi or total new rear (axles, gears, posi, what else?)) 3.73 gears? or what would be best?

Exhaust system (thinking headmans or hooker LT with a 3" no cat, dumping out before the rear tires (is this legal in canada?) not sure about mufflers tho and X pipe.

How does that sound?

What else should be done?

Best parts / best over all value for some things

What i am wanting to do is kind of a daily driver / strip car (looking for low 13's)
