NHRA minimum rating is still Snell 85 and yes it is phased out next year. You should be able to buy Snell2000 helmets now.
M rated helmets M95 etc are tested on flat surfaces such as concrete and have a nylon lining.
SA rated helmets SA95 etc are tested on round surfaces such as roll bars and have a cotten lining.
Other than that, the brand you chose is up to you. As long as there is a snell rating inside the helmet it will pass a tech inspection. A $80 M95 helmet will do the same job as a $400 SA95 and since you don't require an SA rated helmet you can save some money.
