NHRA/IHRA helmet requirements

What is the minimum rating requirement for a helmet (NHRA and IHRA)?I also could use a list of ratings best to worse(even motorcycle helmets).

edit:I just read the archives that Snell85 is minimum for NHRA(phased out next year)but what about IHRA?

NHRA minimum rating is still Snell 85 and yes it is phased out next year. You should be able to buy Snell2000 helmets now.

M rated helmets M95 etc are tested on flat surfaces such as concrete and have a nylon lining.
SA rated helmets SA95 etc are tested on round surfaces such as roll bars and have a cotten lining.

Other than that, the brand you chose is up to you. As long as there is a snell rating inside the helmet it will pass a tech inspection. A $80 M95 helmet will do the same job as a $400 SA95 and since you don't require an SA rated helmet you can save some money.
