I can't remember the specific numbers, and didn't turn up any specs in a quick search, but I want to say they had around 200-230hp, (230 comes to mind) and ran mid/high 15s in the 1/4. Probably be a good run for a 305 TPI auto, might win depending on year.

I ran one in my old mildly modded 86 IROC w/ the 305 TPI auto, and pulled him pretty easily. They're not bad looking cars...

There are a few modded Conquests and Starions (Mitsu sister car) around. Like any turbo car they can get fairly fast without too much work...

Not saying that's what hes got... But www.buchurracing.com has a lot of tricks up hos sleeve. Including a 4G63 (eclipse GSX motor) conversion into a Conquest/Starion. That particular motor can be built to upwards of 600hp. So, there's definatly potential.

Should be a good run, if you win tell him to check that site and then come back if he ever wants to try again.

A few years ago I was messing with one in my sister's 90 Plymouth Laser Turbo. I think the Lasers were 0-60 in 7.3-7.5, and we were pretty even at all speeds. We never went from a stop, but we got on it from around 20 and 50 up to around 100-105, and neither one of us gained any ground at all.

The strongest motor in a Conquest was 177 hp. I checked it out, old issue of Car and Driver. If u got the auto, it was 145 hp. The 2.6 Mitsu motor has a decent bottom end, the headgasket likes to go on these cars. There are a lot of mods available, even today. I have a friend who owned one for a couple of years, traded it in for a 3000 gtvr4.

Yeah, I found some 1/4 times for them, 2 listed, both 86s. They ran a 16.0 and a 16.2. I saw a 188hp figure, don't know if it was right. A 305 TPI should take that if it's in decent tune and running right. I think I was thinking of older Supras before...

I knew a guy who had one of those back in 88. I had an 11 second, 383 LT1 powered,69 Camaro at the time.I used to race on Fountain Avenue. If there's anyone on this board from Brooklyn and was racing around in the mid 80s, should be familiar w/the place.I blew away every car that was there, and I raced for money so some of the faster cars didn't wanna race me.Anyway everyone I knew kept telling me "this guy is gonna smoke you".
I said "okey, bring it on".We raced for $100 and I took him out by a car length at most.I was surprized that the he kept up w/me at all. I later found out that he was running NO2 on a stock motor.Nitro was highly illegal and rare in those days. He must have been doing mid-high 12s.I was very surprized and even now how a lot of respect for those cars.

I know what your talking about in the 70's there was this guy who had a 68' plymouth Barricuda(HEMI) and had the fastest car in the area. Even beat the cops in their buicks(back then when they were cool and raced)i think he was in the high 11's w/ little mods. Ah the 70's wish i could turn back time
