Convertible roll bar/cage
I was checking out the 2012 NHRA rules and am a bit confused/anxious. Any 'vert running quicker than 13.99 needs a roll bar? BTW, haven't been on a dragstrip in over 30 years. This oughta' be good.

Re: Convertible roll bar/cage
The rule has been there for many years. While a hardtop car needs a basic 6 point roll bar at 11.49, used to be 11.99, a convertible needs a basic 6 point roll bar at 13.99

I was going to say unless you have a full cage but that brings in a whole bunch more requirements.

I wonder what that feels like with the top down. I've made a pass without a front nose, doors, hatch, etc just the cage and it was wild above 80mph with the wind whipping all around me.

Re: Convertible roll bar/cage
It's not nearly what you'd think wind wise in these cars. - Aerodynamic/performance body style with a somewhat large windshield, it's for sure nothing like being on a bike.

Re: Convertible roll bar/cage
I run with the top down at Milan Dragway.. IHRA??...6 point bar deep in the 10's.. One pass at 9.85 but that was on a NO ET night, they dont enforce rule at all those nights. They require arm restraints connected to the 5 point harness.. It's fun! If I had known this a LONG time ago, i'd have sweat a lot less in summer!!
