I've got the car .... 1992 firebird ... been run twice in chump and practiced about a dozen times ..... if you come and wrench it's about $600 a person for a 4 person team .... Road Atlanta Feb 8th is your next chance ...... I'm about 5 miles from the track .. my barn is loaded with a lift , mig tig plasma tubing bender ... I have SPARES GALORE for the car !!!! no matter what happens .... WE FINISH RUNNING !!!

I want to race a 3rd gen but we ended up getting an 85 Mercury Capri instead. We gotta replace a bunch of suspension parts that don't need changed on a 3rd gen, so yes we would rather be racing a 3rd gen right now. The V8 pony cars have a lot more potential under the new valuation rules for 2014.

So if you've been apprehensive about getting into ChumpCar due to fears that E30s, E36s and Civics/Integras had too much of an advantage be aware that you can do more mods to the 3rd gens this year and that the BMWs start with penalty laps. Hitching a ride with TVP122 might be a good idea for you.

if you do the math .. you'll see that -overdrive- transmissions don't work on a race track ... 1st and "topgear" are just too far apart ... we have a "S ratio" T-10 ... lighter and stronger ... and came stock in 1982-83.5 ... perfectly legal

either way .. V8's drink like sailors ! you gotta have a HUGE FUEL CELL ! $$$
the best part about pony cars ??? walk right into advance auto ... past
the crying foreign car teams .... get your parts and leave with them !!
while (at best) they get directions to the warehouse store in another state !

the best I've ever finished was 7th in a 944 ... front porch
comes STOCK w/a 22 gallon tank and a 4 cylinder engine !!!
we would have finished 3rd but lost a tire with 20 minutes left
next race .. timing belt broke and bent 5 valves (on me ;(....)
another team had a brand new head ready to install .... no gaskets ....
couldn't find any .. anywhere in the SE USA !!

This year ChumpCar is apparently going to have a national parts vendor right at the tracks. Does that mean they're going to keep BMW coil packs, Porsche timing rollers and 300ZX spindles sitting around though?

I would like to compete but I don't know if I would have the money to do it. I don't have the time to do it next month either.

I could be interested in that. I've been running in Chumpcar for 3 years now, 5 events at 3 different tracks. Usually in a 92 Saturn, once in a 98 Escort. Would like to try a V8 RWD.
We're running the Saturn again at Michigan on Aug 23.
