Auto-x shakedown
My autocross organization had our first non-points event today. It was a very small, straight-forward course. It's my third season racing and my first with the Camaro. It was great for the rookies but not so great for the vets.
My slowest time was 20.063 seconds and my fastest time was 18.42 sec. We had 10 runs and it was really fun, of course.
I'm in C Prepared.
I finally have a set of summer tires on my personal car to really learn how to brake with summer tires and work the traction circle.
I have Continental Extreme Contact DW's rated at 340 Treadwear in size 225/55-R16 on the stock wheels.
I have big problems with wheelspin when I unload weight from my right rear wheel while applying power;definitely due to the open diff and factory springs and shocks/struts and possible broke right rear spring.
I just want to get some good feedback.

a useful thing to do is try to get the best driver you can find to drive your car. If they can drive if significantly faster than you can then concentrate on improving your technique and don't worry too much about the car. If they can't push it much faster or you have the time and money anyway go ahead and start improving the car. Limited slip is a great first step. Possibly a brake upgrade. Maybe start with an adjustable prop valve on the rear to crank up the rear brakes. See how it goes. Practice braing somewhere safe. Pick a point and see how ast you can go and still brake to that point. And try turning really hard on a corner you set up. Go faster until you find the point the car won't make the turn. Then....

Funny thing is that I have the SSBC two piston caliper upgrade for my front brakes with maybe summit racing drilled and slotted rotors in the front with factory drum rear brakes. I probably don't need more brakes during the course but the finish line is when I have experience that I need more stopping power for my Camaro and a few other cars I have competed in. I definitely need better front brake pads.
One seasoned vet told me last year that I actually need to brake less during the course to keep up my speed.

Yes. You want lots of brakes but use them the least amount needed. That's why the braking exercise is useful so you can get the feel of applying max brakes without locking up the wheels. An adjustable prop valve is good too and pretty cheap. You can crank up the contribution from the rear brakes to add to the max front brake effort.
