New engine running...How fast will it go?
New engine has been installed and plan on taking car to track Saturday. Anyone want to guess what car should run? See car specs below.
Weighs 3400 with driver
383 with AFR 195 Hyd roller 540 lift 10:5 comp
700R4 3000 stall 10 inch converter
Dyno Don 1 3/4 shorty headers into Hooker cat back
275/60 15 M/T drag radial
850hp carb no spacer flat hood
4:27 Axle
I will keep you posted with results!

Re: New engine running
Depends on traction but high 11's should be obtainable. Specs are very similar to my old 383 but I also raced at altitude. Take that into effect and mid 11's may be a closer guess.
Don't be disappointed if you can only manage 12's. Then again, it may run great and give you a 10 second timeslip but I highly doubt it.
A guess is just a guess. How well it hooks and gets down the track will be what it runs. Any number of things can make it run less than expected. First day at the track will give you a bunch of baseline runs that you can work with to see what works and what doesn't.

Re: New engine running
I know that feeling.
I installed new belts in my car in the spring of last year and I haven't had a chance to use them yet. If I don't get the car ready to race this year, they get sold off this fall as "Installed but never used but the date code has expired". Last expired set I sold went to someone with an offroad VW bug.
I can sell off the expired belts for about half the cost of new ones. RCI Platinum belts are a good deal if you live in the States. You get to send them back for recertification once. In Canada, the shipping cost back and forth across the border eats up any savings you would get from the recertification so it's cheaper to just buy new belts.

Re: New engine running
Made it out yesterday and ran pretty well. I attached a picture of one of my passes (I am in right lane) I ran 11.59 @ 119 deep staged (shallow would be about a tenth quicker) one run during eliminations car was on a 11.53 pass (11.43 shallow) Did have one issue with slight stumble off the line. May be related to fuel issue. I will keep you posted.

Re: New engine running...How fast will it go?
Car built for 11:50 & slower class. I do not want to put a roll bar in and deal with updating seat belts or fire jacket. I've been down that road before and this car is not raced that much but I do drive it on the street. I think if stumble is gone its could go 11:teens in better air @ 122.
