Seat height?
I'm looking to buy a seat for my track only car.
I'm 6'4 and have measured just about everything necessary. But how do I determine the total height seat I need. In a strait position I sit 39.5", on a 20 degree incline I'm probably around 37.5.
Do I want a seat that extends just about to the top of my head or what?

Re: Seat height?
My race seat is attached to a framework that's part of the cage. The front of the seat is higher than the back to put me in a more reclined position. It's the only way I can keep the top of the helmet below the cage.
Although it doesn't look bad from inside the car, my girlfriend too a picture of me in the car as I was coming up to the timeslip booth and it looks like I'm sitting on the floor when you see my head through the side window.

Re: Seat height?
Well where is my helmet supposed to be in correlation with the top of the seat?
I'm not concerned about harness height, that I can modify as needed. But a 34.5" seat will only go about half way up on my helmet.

Re: Seat height?
Helmet can be anywhere in relation to the seat. A stock 1960's car with a bench seat that can run 12 second 1/4 mile times has a seat that only reaches the shoulders but the driver still needs to wear a helmet.
The only requirement for helmet clearance is in relation to the roll bar/cage.

Re: Seat height?
I understand but I wouldn't want my head freely moving backwards in an accident. I went with one of the $170 kirkey seats and it fits perfect. My head is at the top of the seat. Went with an 18" wide seat to give me room to move my feet when I shift (and I'm 6'4/210lbs). I am VERY comfortable in the seat and can't wait to get my roll bar so I can mount my seat and bar.
