Well I posted over on show your cars thread but figured would just start my own since will be working on my car.

This car was sitting in a Mobile Home park that the wife and I took over the resident manager position. The guy had to many cars allowed and it was sitting out in front of his house on 4 flat tires. At the time his wife said he was trying to sell it.

Well I came back week or so later and talked to him. Not having much cash but having a car I didn't really want and was trying to sell , http://the-michels.com/gallery/Buick-LeSabre-T-type
so offered to trade it for the Camaro after he got the Camaro running. So couple weeks went by and he still hadn't got the Camaro running was still missing a few pieces I decided to just trade him (not like I was losing money since I only trade a pack of smokes and a 1 liter of mountain dew for the lesabre not running). So we traded and I towed it on home.

I cleaned the interior out and took some pictures, there it sat for couple of weeks.



So got the parts together that I needed (some fuel line, fuel pump, hardline from pump to carb, plug wires, plugs) and put most of it in day before yesterday. Battery was dead so jumping it couldn't get it to fire up but tested and knew I had spark. Couldn't find my manual so didn't know for certain my wires were in correct spot. Let battery charge on battery overnight and left it.

Today went out and found gasket for under the carb (carb looks like it has sat on a shelf for 10 years) and my manual. Check wires, they were off by 1. Got them all in the right place, fired right up. Went and did some donuts in the empty dirt lot across the street (boys will be boys :P <giggle> )

So here is pictures of it sitting in front of my house after I rinsed the dirt from sitting off it.




Now what to do to it :P hehe and another saga begins.

Welcome to the board! What are your plans for the car?

First is to get it running good and drivable. My shop is getting the concrete poured sometime next week. Try to get the interior all together.


After it is drivable I will add subframe connectors,strut brace and panhand bar.

By then my shop should be done and will start a 350/200r4 build up to put in it. Then I am sure I will have to do something with the rearend if it lasts that long.

It's mainly going to be a cruiser with some power. I want to be able to drive it so nothing radical, but fun.

Why a 200r4?

Sounds like a good plan :-)

Because I don't like the spread between 1st and 2nd on the 700r4 and either can be built for power.

Picked up some parts yesterday off craigslist

1 TH350 (unknown condition but doesnt' smell burnt, fluid looks good)

1 torque converter for above transmission.

1 Chevy alternator

1 Chevy Starter

1 HEI Dist./vacuum adv. with cap and wires (needed this since computer is gone on mine and all the wires are cut, dist. has no vacuum adv.)

1 complete Set of Casting #462624 Heads (my book says 1978-1981 Z-28 Camaro 1.95/1.5)

1 Rochester Quadrajet (way better looking than the one I have currently on my car, except it looks like it was smog one with the non adjustable idle screws that they did some digging and drilling to be able to move them)

1 Dirty Edelbrock Performer Alum. Intake.


All that for $50, so do you think I got my $50 worth
