Driving my THIRDGEN to coastal washington..

Hi, please pardon the off topic post, but I'm in need of some help. I've always wanted to take a trip to coastal Washington. What's the best city to stay in? I want to have a bit of fun, I want to fish, and mostly just relax. Low key trip. Looking for reasonable food, reasonable hotel. Above all I'm looking for scenic beauty.

Try out Ocean Shores Lots of hotels and fishing and the drive up the coast is very scenic and if you want I can get you my friends and family discount at the hotel/casino I work at.

Re: Driving my THIRDGEN to coastal washington..

How far north are you planning on going?

I stayed at the Lake Quinault Lodge a few years back. It was very nice. But also can get rather expensive. It is a bit out of the way, and not really on the coast though.

I have also stayed in Port Angeles and Port Townsend, I dont' recall where i stayed though. Ocean shores is also a very nice town. There are really a lot places, it will also depend on what you like, and your budget.

If you go as far north as Port Angeles, you can also catch the Ferry up to Victoria, BC, which can also be a fun trip.

Basicly, there are a TON of options, not sure how far north you plan to drive. Coming from California, you might want to split the trip up, and stay in a couple of places in Oregon too, the Oregon coast has some really neat stuff to check out on the way up too.

By Coastal do you mean Western WA in general, or the true coast of WA.

If you are willing to head a little more East, the North Cascade Loop is a wonderful scenic drive. Leavenworth, WA is a very cool little town, but not exactly cheap. You might be able to find some good room rates if you aren't there during any peak time.

Like others said, Ocean Shores is cool. It can be REALLY windy there, but there are lots of fun things to do.

BTW, no worries on the "off-topic", anyone asking about our beautiful area of the country is always welcome!
