Just got back from the auction, ended up winning that B4C!! Its a 92 black hardtop, L98/700R4/10bolt, 103k miles. Its a former HPD traffic patrol car #251. You guys probably know the B4C is rare, one of 589 B4C's built in 92, one of 1181 B4C's ever built. I verified the B4C RPO and did the visual check of the 1LE brakes. Both front and rear bumper needs new paint, both doors and fenders need to be buffed out (imprint from the HPD decals), and the roof needs two holes to be welded closed (punched open for the blue lights). The interior is grey, needs a new headliner, maybe new carpet, and both seats are ripped up pretty bad. I can still smell the resh scent of coffe and donuts (joke!). My plan is to restore it to factory original, obtain as much documentation as possible on service, order a dealer window sheet, and then decide if I want to keep it or not. If I do sell it I want to find some Camaro collector that wants to keep it in good condition. My old B4C I used to own sold for $7,000 to someone that wanted to collect it, I believe his S/N on these forums was Benny. Maybe this new one will have a similar fate. Here's a pic from HPD, more pics to come ..

wow, thats one sick B4C, im jealous too... 1500 bucks is a deal for that hehehe good goin shawn. Get some more pics up.
I saw that car earlier this week, in that exact place in that picture and thought to myself wow look its a B4C, wonder if its for sale hehe guess it was.
HPD sure waited a long time to auction off the '92, those were taken out of service at least a couple years ago, right?
I followed the city and county auctions for quite a while when the thirdgens were phased out, but gave up when I didn't see any listed for several months.
Good job, keep those classics in top shape!

Thanks guys!! I'm still kind of in disbelief that I got it, especially for that cheap. Its like a dream come true. Guess it'll take a few days to sink in. Soon as its legal to drive and I fix some minor stuff, I'm gonna be downing both my 91 Z28 and 89 IROC until around August/September 2005, pulling the insurance and everything. I'm gonna be selling the 92 Z28 to Tracy, she decided she wanted it since I was gonna sell it (her dream car is a 91/92 Z28). We're gonna be a Camaro family, all Chevy Camaros!! Still not sure what I'm gonna do with the 89 RS drag project, I dont got space/time for it, and not sure if my Moms boyfriend wants to buy it. I kind of want to keep it in the family because I have alot of history with that car, but on the other hand, kind of depressed about the situation of it being down for 2 years and nothing done. Feels like a lost cause ...
Still taking care of the registration, safety, and plates. Can you believe it didnt have a safety since July of '93? Talk about being above the law ...

Thats wierd...
I know HPD cars are exempt from taxes... didnt know they were exempt from safety...
Thanks again guys! Nah, probably wont keep it. I will need to use it to get to work while doing some major mods on my other cars, but once they're good to go, I'm probably gonna sell this B4C. Its just too many cars. I wish I could keep it, but its not financially feasable (insurance wise). Can you believe this whole time I've only had insurance on 2 cars? hehehe I'm sure some collector out there would love to add it to his collection, maybe end up in some A/C room in an airtight bag or something.
I picked it up today, drove it home with no plates and got pulled over once. LOL! The cop was nice though, he let me drive it home no worries. Looks like someone used it since I checked it out prior to bidding at the auction. Milage went from 103K to 104K and someone spilled what appears to be an entire plate lunch on the floor behind the passenger seat, and then instead of cleaning up the puddle of gravy, they let it dry into a hard crust. I was driving the car home ... kept wondering what that smell was. Also, looks like some gang people tagged the drivers side window with a marsh pen. ROFL!!!
Anyway, its in good hands now. Gave it a nice wash, gonna start buffing the doors and body. I already got a new front clip and rear bumper, friend is gonna paint em for me. And I already took out the pass seat to clean it up. Drivers side is hammered, gotta find a new one (electric seat). Also gonna order a replacement carpet from AAA (ebay) this weekend. Last thing on the list is the headliner, then I'm gonna move onto the suspension (Pro-Kit, Tokiko HP's, and a bushings kit, then alignment, then its done).
I've been driving the car to work now for a while and I'm getting used to its quirks. The pass side window dosnt roll down all the way, kinda scared to even use it incase it gets stuck. There is a leak that leaves water on the pass floor. It leaked twice, then never leaked again. Its weird because it dosnt seem to be consistent with either a heater core leak or a hole in the body. For the past week its rained hard, I use it every day, even use the A/C and no water, not even dampness. There are still holes in the roof where the light bar used to be. They've been plugged but I still suspect a leak there. I've talked to my friend and I'm probably gonna get it fixed at his shop. Weld all the holes, body work, and repaint the car black. I think the tranny needs either a TV cable adjustment or a rebuild. It shifts kinda weird at slow speeds, but dosnt seem to slip on acceleration. Then add in the interior, suspension, whew this thing needs alot of work.
