Hows everyone doing? well, since my muffler was cracked pretty horribly, and the previous owner repaired the crack by simply welding sheetmetal over the crack, My 92 Z28 has been running with a incredibly messed up exhaust system for the last three or so months.(rattling noise when rev'in past 2k)
So.. My uncle and I cut the muffler off, and welded a turn down to where the muffler was. So now, I have an amazingly beautiful sounding car, that is quite loud (no muffler/cats)... Car seems to run a lot better now too, its just its insanely loud... Is there any sort of baffle/silencer that can be added to the piping to reduce noise?
Also, are any of you guys familiar with "Noise Pollution" charges/requirements, i'm kind of scared to drive my car, as I dont wish to be pulled over for being well.. excessively loud. Well, its not super loud, just when it revs up the noise gets pretty loud.
The car might be a bit faster without exhaust restriction, but undoubtably it sounds a LOT faster 'cause it's a LOT louder, heh.
Although a noise ticket isn't a moving violation, at least put a Flowmaster race muffler on the car -- it will increase the bass and lower midtones and block those raspy highs that irritate most people ... especially cops that wander by checking to see if you have your seatbelt on.

I don't think the area is large enough for an 80's series muffler.
It would sound incredibally good though.
My car(just a v6) sounds like a v8, and gets mistaken for one all the time. It no longer has the cat, just a flowmaster.
well, the car's quieted down a little bit, don't know why.. hehe i must be getting used to it. Im still stumped by the fuel economy on the 92Z, and also by the oil pressure gauge, it jumps around a lot, anywhere from 5-35, not too sure why..... I had to dump two more quarts of oil into her the other day, I'm guessing i've got an oil leak somewhere. (just had the oil changed about three weeks ago, looks like since then i've lost a lot, either that or my oil gauge is busted and im reading it wrong, I checked the dipstick though and it said i needed to add, ahh well idk.. ill get the problem fixed before I drive it some more.) Strange thing too, whenever I fill up the tank full of gas, gas leaks out of the place where the cap is when I park it on my hill, (minor slant), gas cap on and all, freaked me out today as I left the car, hmm... other than that the car runs fine, i've just got an oil problem, and a gasoline problem too... could my gas be evaporating while it sits overnight if the cap sucks?
YES. If your cap is gonzo, you'll lose vapors as it sits. Plus, I think a leak through the cap will throw a code eventually. I'm not sure which code, though. Something to do with the emissions cannister. If it isn't a locking gas cap, might as well stick a locking cap on while you're at it, with gas prices getting where they are now. Both my F-cars have them.
I haven't a clue as to why it bubbles out when you park it - are you topping it off with a few extra squeezes on the handle when you top off? I only do one or two, any more and gas spits back at me.
Oil leak? Did it do that before you changed it? You might have something as simple as a bad oil filter gasket - had that happen to me, the old gaslket stayed on the block and the new one went on with the filter, so two gaskets = big leak, under pressure. It didn't leak at all when the car wsan't running. The entire underside fo my GTA was covered in oil. It really sucked, I was thinking that my rear seal had blown.
