Thanks Shawn. I'm also interested in the door panels (depends what style & color they are though. let me know)

Also, is the entire dash in good shape.....meaning, is there no crack in the middle under the center ac vents.....very popular cracking spot in these cars.

Lastly, interested in all the ac compenents includeing the heater core if it's good. I'm keeping the ac in my car haha! Let me know! Thanks!

The interior is grey. I dont remember seeing any cracks in the dash itself, I'll check again. I'm going over to help begin stripping the car tomorrow. I'll take some pics for you guys. He has all the parts you want Anthony, I'll get some prices from him.

Sorry to see him part-out, but oh well I'll help...

Yes -- I need the the rear wing, a-arms, and if the price is right the hood blisters, and front/rear shocks [if relatively new]. Also interested in the foglights, "Z28" grill insert and front lower aero skirt.

How's the steering wheel? Good shape? Hmm, the heater/AC panel too... What about the 16-inch wheels...[reserved for your GF car?]. But wait there's more -- need a price on the hatch retract assembly, hood struts [have gas yes?], left and right side door panel plastic pieces IF the rubber is good. Oh, and the gas tank fuel delivery assembly [float, pump, piping] maybe including the tank if the price is right.

When the carcass is ready to be scrapped, I'd like to pick through the bones for any leftover scraps...

Any chance I can take a look at the car?

Ok, I've made a list of everything you guys want/need. Tomorrow I'll be getting prices on all this stuff and some pics. I know for sure he dosnt have the grille insert and the lower front lip, not sure about the foglights. He was in the process of replacing the entire front end after a drifting mishap and then the motor blew up. The struts/shocks are still OEM, not sure if you'd want them (they were on his list of mods to do next). The steering wheel is a Grant GT, I think he wanted to keep it. I'll have to ask him about the 16's and check out everything else you are interested in (hatch motor, hood struts, etc). I'm sure its OK to take a look but I'll have to ask him first since its at his house.

I passed on the list of stuff you guys want. I couldnt get any pics because the camera was acting up. Its gonna be a few days before he's ready to sell the parts. He wants to take the heads off and see how bad the motor was damaged before totally stripping the car. But you guys are first in line for those parts and you can still check them out (in Manoa). PM me for his phone number and contact info so you guys can go take a look at the car and check out the parts you want.

The hood corners are damaged. I think Ed (Duck) has firsts on the hood blisters. What kind of hood are you looking for?

Today we took the TPI intake off and there were pieces of metal in the plennum. Its a guarantee goner. Heads should be off by tomorrow then the stripping begins ...

I just have the plain flat hood, and would like either an Iroc or Z28 hood. Basicly just for looks. But as always looking for the something on the cheap side, so long as its decent. L8RS!

I might have an IROC-Z hood for sale sometime in the future, its from an '88, blue, and it still has the black louvers. Still deciding what I'm going to do with it (the current hood on my IROC is cracking, about to break soon). I'll let you know when/if its for sale. I also still have those t-tops ...

Hmmm, I'm gonna have to talk to him. Both you guys have PM's. Nice to meet you too Stew. I'm sure he's gonna be selling the heads, but problem is, he cant get them off! One of the bolts for the PS pump is stripped, he cant remove the accessory to remove the head. Gonna see if it can all come off one time (PS pump and head haha). He wants to see the damage first hand before stripping the car. Sorry for the wait guys ...

Is he going to completely disassemble the bottom end? Or just enough to see what went wrong?

I'm tempted to make a "Short Circuit" #5 no disassemble joke, but I think its gonna be just enough to see the damage and determine if its a cheap fix or not (probably not).

The trans is taken, sorry Rob. I might know someone else with trans for sale, lemme know.

I talked to my friend yesterday, he said he was sorry for taking so long, he's been busy at work. Soon as he gets some time he's gonna finish taking the heads off.

Fuel hoses?

Are the TPI fuel feed and fuel return hoses taken? If not, please let me know. I need these since the fuel feed line is no longer made by GM. Thanks.

Pretty sure the paired lines under the hood are available over-the-counter or at GMParts.com, since I had to buy this part when I upgraded the '87 TPI from v-belts to a single serpentine system. If you need the tank-to-engine compartment lines, they're easy at most salvage yards. If you want to cruise the Army yards, you can go with me.

I know the part you need is on this car my friend is parting out, thing is, I'm not sure when he's actually going to part it out. First it sounded like he was in a rush. Now it sounds like he dosnt know when he's gonna do it. Car has been sitting since this thread was started. Sorry guys, didnt mean to lead anyone on or anything. I'm not sure what to say except that I'll post an update here when I get word from him that he is taking the car apart again.

Hey Ed...was there any wiring issues when you made the swap from V-belt to serp? On the g-body, the alternator and the A/C compressor switch places not sure if that's what you had to do on the F-body. LMK tia stew

Yes, exactly the same, the ALT wiring needs to be extended. Be aware that the serpentine conversion requires an 89-92 version AC compressor, power steering pump and a reverse-rotation H2O pump. I used the opportunity to upgrade to a later model new AC compressor and an Edlebrock hi-flow aluminum water pump.

BTW, I have a serp conversion package for $100 if anyone wants to get away from V-belts. No AC comp and H2O pump. Might have the PowerSteering. Came off a 91 V8 camaro, but will fit any SBC, I believe.

Just a FYI, James has decided to get a move on with parting this car out. He said Ed came buy and got some stuff this past weekend. Anyone else looking for parts send me a PM and I'll relay the phone number. Tranny and wheels are sold sorry. Shoots!

Yep, James was very helpful. Heh, finding his place without a GPS is close to impossible! I looked at his broken engine and we talked a bit about race cars, and that they're stressed a lot and thus are high-maintainance, so when an engine breaks or tranny or rear -- it's normal for that environment. I recall a conversation with John Pinero over a Performance Autocare when he was unbeaten in racing a 3rdGen in SCCA. He said running the engine right up to the rev limiter and keeping it up there was the key to power. Harsh environment, stuff fails. James really liked my never-beat-on '87 IROC daily-driver, I think there's still lust in his heart for a 3rdGen.

I think its something in the bottom end but I'm not sure. There was metal pieces in the TPI intake plennum so that stuff had to have either come from the heads and blown through the heads.

Car: too many ...
We finally pulled everything and put in the JY rearend so can lower the rear and take the front a-arms off. Give James a call, not sure when he plans to do it. But its gonna be soon because he wants to get the shell towed outa there ASAP so he can move his new project car in.
