What is a good brand of header

What is a good brand of header as far as cost, power, installing ease etc?
I want a header size that will work well on a TBI 305, but won't hurt a SC 383 if at all possible.
and what is a good Y pipe to go with them?
I plan on having Headers to 3" Y-pipe into 3" cat and then a flowmaster American thunder cat back

there is no way any single exhaust setup will support a super charged 383 setup. if i were you, i would get a hooker smog legal super comp shorty setup that comes with Y pipe for a good price, then invest in some longtube headers later on down the road if you ever get a sc 383 built.

I got the long super comp hooker headers and wish i never did. They were a pain to get in. Took about 6 hours and then I had to pay about 300 bux for a crappy pipe to connect them to my exhaust. Now the pipe is 2.5" from the headers then 2" to clear the ground then back to 2.5" to my cat. Dont make my mistake unless your car is not really a street car. Every bump hits the headers if I dont slow down. Get the short ones and save time and money.

Get the hedman t.e.m.s headers for 82-92 f-bodies. They are smog legal shortie style headers 1-5/8" primaries and they come with a ypipe for a single cat for about 309.00 bucks. I put them in with my motor out and they were no problem at all. look for them in the jegs catalog.

I installed Edelbrock's TES header system on my 1986 IROC! They came complete with air injection hookups, oxygen sensor hookup, and y pipe for just over $300. I ordered through Summit. The shipping was free and my headers arrived within 3 days. There's also no welding or cutting required to install Edelbrock's TES system. I'd recommend them to anybody. Summit and Edelbrock kick a$$!

Hedman Headers. they fit good and you can change sparkplugs with them on. Also they dont burn your wires up like cheep headers. You can get a set for around a hundred bucks.

I went with hooker shorty headers, they come with a y-pipe and go for about $365 alittle pain to install, cause of the air tubes, but installed without having to mod anything. A good bolt-on, but heres the thing, if you get any headers you need to get them Jet-hot coated, Cause if not they will rust, and look like manifolds. Jet hot is easy to maintain, and keeps the temps down in your engine bay, it also protects your headers. Alittle more expensive but well worth it.

i have the hooker long tube headers in now. they were the worst header install i have ever seen! it litterally took 5 hours or more ( i gave up the first night, had to finish it couple days later) . if u can't put ur car on a lift to make it easier to put them up in there from underneath, ur screwed. it was a major pain to get em in, now i have problems w/ spark plug wires fitting w/ out them hitting the header tubes. just last night the headers burned through the positive battery cable to the starter and i had a engine fire. so screw installing them yourself. wire routing is a nightmare.

but don't get me wrong this is the most HP gain i have ever seen in aftermarket headers. hooker is definetly the best for performance but as far as installation it was horrible.

yeah i ve got the hooker long tubes and they are a pain in the *** once there r in the worst is the back tube on drivers side ive dimpled it and still cant get enough clearence so i carry extra spark plug wires i have a thermal boot on it and that wire will last me about a month before it burns through with out thermal boot it last maybe a day only reason i bought these header is to match my mufflex y pipe and 4" exhaust they r a pain but they r nice headers lol later

Edelcrock headers would be the worst thing for a supercharged 383 engine. Right after stock manifolds.
