ive got a little shop in IL by my town this guy builds nothing but torque converters there the best ive seen specifically for what you need i can get the number if you'd like.....i know firsthand all of the ppl i know around that town and alot of ppl at the track we know use his.....probably cheaper too...pm me if you want

I just threw in an ACC boss hog stage 2 in my car.
Its not running yet. Hopefully next week.
I will let you know how its working.

x2 i have an acc boss hog behind a th350, should stall around 2800 rpm. Haven't ran the car either. lol

Be sure to let us know the feeling...what stall? Lockup?

Also as I havent asked but what would the multi-disk 3-clutch for their TC's be for? It says for those wanting to have a full throttle lockup, would this mean, no matter the stall, when at full throttle the TC will lock up anyway? They dont describe it to much on their site as to the pros and cons of it...as I should mention my camaro will be a daily driver.

A lockup torque converter of an automatic transmission for an automotive vehicle consists of an impeller connected to an engine, a turbine connected to the automatic transmission, and a lockup clutch disposed between first and second pressure chambers formed in a housing of said lockup torque converter for locking and releasing the lockup torque converter. A control unit supplies a hydraulic pressure into the first pressure chamber and withdraw a hydraulic pressure chamber from the second pressure chamber or reversely so as to actuate the lockup clutch to lock or unlock the lockup torque converter, respectively. A pressure regulating unit develops a pressure difference between the first and second pressure chambers when the shifting of the automatic transmission is detected, thereby causing the lockup clutch to allow the lockup torque converter to slip in accordance with certain conditions.

i was also wondering about the lock up feature on the vigilante....anyone got any experience with that? i think im either buying the edge 9.5 or the vigilante. and the boss hog converters are very nice now from what i heard the guy who bought the company used to be a jet mechanic and totally revamped the old crappy version so they should be much better by now. has anyone had any experience with the art carr 9.5 converters that brand seems really nice to. thanks for the advice so far guys

PTC converters thay wont steer you wrong. I just picked up .15 in et with a converter swap I went from 10.20s to 10.05 in the 1/4 and did not loose any MPH. very happy. And thay have good prices also.

A torque converter is a type of fluid coupling, which allows the engine to spin somewhat independently of the transmission. If the engine is turning slowly, such as when the car is idling at a stoplight, the amount of torque passed through the torque converter is very small, so keeping the car still requires only a light pressure on the brake pedal. If you were to step on the gas pedal while the car is stopped, you would have to press harder on the brake to keep the car from moving. This is because when you step on the gas, the engine speeds up and pumps more fluid into the torque converter, causing more torque to be transmitted to the wheels.

So if I have 200lbs tq, that converter might make me 210lbs tq?

Think of it as a manual trans for now.

You have to apply slight gas while letting out the clutch to allow it to move forward without stalling.

Well with a torque converter it works similar, you have to give slight gas before it can move forward or grab (except without the stalling possibility).

Now when purchasing a new TC and they ask you for Stall. Which is what you want the TC to GRAB COMPLETELY at.

So if I have a 2800rpm stall, my TC wont completely lockup until I reach this RPM

So if you have a 4500RPM stall your car will rev until a good 4,000rpm before it starts to move (grab) because the stall is higher thus making it not grab until higher RPMs.

What's the purpose of a high stall over a low stall? Why even have a stall at all?

I've used Vigilantes on 3 of my F-bodies, all different stalls and would highly reccommend them.

You want your stall for your power band, btw, and that will depend on the car, the engine make up, etc...

I have the ACC Boss Hog in my 92 Form 350. Works great.

My car has a 2400 stall. If I upgraded to a 2800 I would be able to launch my car at a higher rpm and get better et's.

has anyone had any experience with the patc raptor parts? they look very nice and price is about equal. if no one has used them before then i may be the guinea pig for our forum. let me know what you guys think.

It's a 2800 stall with lockup. I haven't gotten around to installing the new motor and the new converter. Still waiting for my headers to come in and still have to finish painting the engine bay.

I replied to your PM, but I don't know enough to fully answer that question.
