well i wasnt sure what area to post this in but anyways has anyone used CRC guaranteed to pass emissions test formula? if so did it work? does anyone have any other smog tips i mean i know the hotter the better and i hear using 91 gasoline helps as well.... any other ideas? thanks for your help

this was more of a excuse to go have fun, but i head that you should blast down the freeway a cople of times also to help clear out some of the loose stuff in the exhaust. also if its due any way just replace your ingination compents ( plugs, wires, cap and rotor ) and that should help also

haha yeah blasting down the freeway actually does help and i just replaced my plugs... my wires cap and rotor are gonna be my next thing most likely this weekend.... yeah that crc stuff cought my eye as well and kragen had it on sale so i figured what the hell why not give it a try

yeah i put it in my car but i couldnt go get it smogged cause of my financial problems haha so my next paycheck i need to get it so hopefully it works

That stuff is just a strong fuel system cleaner intended to break up carbon and get the engine running cleaner.

If you read the back of the bottle in the fine print is says that it is guaranteed to pass if all other smog equipment in on the vehicle and functioning properly.

i was told by some canadians that if you get your tank down to about a quarter tank, then go get about 90% or better isopryl alcohol put it in your tank then have your emisson checked that you will pass, but only use 2-3 bottles. dont get to much or meltdown of the converter, his buddy did not pass the first time, the next day he put the alky in and went back and passed super clean. the tech was confused how clean the check was.

C'mon guy, if you don't know the answer and are just airing your educated guess about the product with ZERO experience, how about just not posting? There is no way that a car will pass a test without the stock smog components in place and functioning properly, as that is the visual part of the test. Whatever comes out of the pipe, if it doesn't pass visual, which includes an EGR test and a fuel system pressure test here in CA, it can be blowing daffodils out the exhaust and it will FAIL.

I have used the CRC stuff on my mom's Intrepid, as it did not pass the first time. I put medium grade gas in it with the CRC. It says to run the tank through it and refill without, but I had it tested with the CRC still in the tank. I also recommend that you overinflate your drive wheels, it keeps rpms and load off the engine while being tested. Anyway, I drove it pretty hard down the freeway and got it good and hot and it passed. I don't care if it's seafoam or nuclear waste, it saved ol' mom a lot of hassle and aggravation. It worked.

Well i did as directed and passed easily not even close to failing so im gonna say it worked for me anyways.... i only say that because the last owner struggled everytime to get it smogged and i had absolutely no troubles at all

i tried it in my formula and i was no where near passing , the guy acctually laughed at how badly it failed , but i only needed to take the test so i could get the 2 month extension, cause in 8 days my car will be historic and it wont matter any more

That CRC stuff didn't work for me and I followed the directions to the letter.I also changed the oil and added some of their 'El Nada Smoka' product to no avail.I knew that my engine was a hound dog, but I thought I might 'squeak by'. After the fact,I got advice from 2 buddies.One said to fill the tank halfway and add one bottle of rubbing alcohol, then take the test.Another said to simply replace the cat.The theory is that no matter what kind of crap the motor spews out, a new cat will soak it up like a sponge.I go back next month for my free "re-test", and I should have my motor squared away by then....

I have a 1992 firebird formula tpi and I just recently failed two smog tests on two different days. I bought the guaranteed to pass additive, added it to a full tank of gas and ran it till it was just about empty. I then filled my tank back up with Chevron 91 unleaded and ran my car on the freeway for about 25min. I went straight to the smog station and the car passed smog with flying colors. So in my one experience in using the product I give it a thumbs up. Make sure your oil has been recently changed and the catalytic converters have had a chance to warm up before bringing it in for testing.

I have an 87 VW Jetta GLI 1.8L, 8-Valve engine. I too did exactly what they said to do. my car has been deader then a ford since. The carbon fouls the plugs within 2 miles if you try to drive it. I have changed out the fuel 3 or 4 times. What the manufacturer fails to state on the label is that if you have any type of computer system, your not supposed to use it. They really only reccommend it for older muscle cars.

I HAVE AN '89 FORMULA 350. MOVED TO CALI FROM KANSAS, CAR FAILED SMOG, REPLACED BOTH CATS, THOUGHT I HAD IT IN THE BAG. NOPE.. FAILED AGAIN. STUMPED I WENT TO THE FRIGGN REPAIR SHOP. DIAGNOSIS WAS A $1.25 PART. A VACUUM FITTING WAS THE WRONG SIZE. SO BETWEEN THE INITIAL SMOG CHECK, THE $300 CATS, THE $80 DIAGNOSIS A BUCK AND A QUARTERIS WHAT IT TOOK. DONT COUNT ON THE CATS ALONE PASSING YOU. GOOD LUCK

My 1987 integra barely passed smog in California 2 years ago.
I changed my oil this time. I added CRC to a full tank of gas.
Ran it to almost empty. I added a full tank of premium gas. I ran it to the smog shop after it got hot and had it tested. The integra passed easily. All the emissions dropped alot. CRC worked great for me.

Did you have to burn out a full tank of gas in a one day. I was told that you can not cut your car off after you put the guaranteed to pass in your fuel tank. My car has been running for at least 12 hours. and I still have gas in it because I shopped and left it running during that time. Do I have to drive it around until the tank is empty.

Used it a few years ago in my thunderbird worked fine passed retest. Oh yeah did cut car off numerious times .

What is the exact name of the CRC product?

If it comes in a can maybe post a link or picture of the can please so others may visually see and grab it off the shelf than rely on a countersales person to reach for a CRC product only intended to lubricate.
