Federal Mogul/Speed Pro/ Sealed Power

Federal Mogul/Speed Pro/ Sealed Power
What do u guys think of federal mogul engine parts? Sealed power, Speed Pro and Fel Pro belong to Federal Mogul. I know Fel-pro gaskets are good and speed pro has some nice pistons, but what about their valvetrain parts and camshafts? would u build a motor with nothing but federal mogul parts?

felpo is good. i replaced my stock GM lifters with sealed power stock replacement roller lifters when i built my new 383 HSR, im running comp cams XFI 280 cam. I kept snapping rocker studs, i went through 3 sets and eventually 1 lifter puked its guts into my liftervalley at the track. took it apart, 1 was empty with its guts in the lifter valley and another turned in the lifter bore, destroyed my new 300$ cam, and bent up the spider. i then found out that the sealed power lifters were having a 30% failure rate of not pumping up causing excessive play in the pushrods. this causes a hammering affect on the rocker studs causing them to snap. once the play gets enough the pushrod could slip out of the lifter cup and hit the snap ring. causing the lifters guts to shoot into the valley. this happened on 2 different rocker studs causing them to snap at different times. Caused noisy valvetrain noise and the lifter that destroyed the cam was on another lobe so thats 3 out of 16 that caused damage. i had to replace the cam and lifters but this time i went with LS7 lifters.
in all i dnt like speed pro/federal mogul lifters and i will never use them again.

In the last year and a half I have rebuilt 2 SBC 350's using Fel-Pro gasket sets and haven't had any problems. On the one for my Camaro I used Sealed Power flat tappet lifters and haven't had any problems. They've only been in for the cam break-in and I only put about 2k miles on the car last summer.
The other engine went in my truck (94 GMC K1500) and I also used the Sealed Power lifters(also flat tappet) with that one as well as one of their cams. So far (break-in+2k miles) I haven't had any issues related to the cam, lifters, or gasket set.
I've always used Fel-Pro gaskets when replacing things like water pumps and thermostats and have used their valve cover gaskets in the past as well. I've used them on Chevy's, Dodges and Buicks and never had a problem with them leaking.

I've been selling these parts for years. No ones ever had any problems with anything except for improper installation. Some people just dont know how to use gaskets right..lol My new engine has SpeedPro flat top pistons, lifters, and "A-series" rod bearings with a complete felpro gasket set. It's good stuf you cant go wrong with those parts...

i use most of thier stuff. gaskets, pistons, oil pump components etc. i always use a comp, crane, lunati, ultradyne, engle, hughes, crower cam so i dunno bout that stuff.

Thanks for the replies, I work for federal mogul, and since i get employee discount i thought i might as well get all my components from there, but the cam and lifters and rocker arms im not to sure about, in the summit website it seems to only say we carry original replacement parts for the 5.7 tpi for those three things. The summit website has a kit for the 5.7 with hypereutectic pistons for about 450, minus the three things that im concerned about, i wonder how much company discount i'll get, if its good enough i might get a better aftermarket cam or maybe upgrade to forged pistons to squeeze in a bit of nos.

I have been exclusively using Fel Pro gaskets since the mid 80's, never had a problem.......the 85 Z28 has had TRW forged pistons in it since 1986, 60k miles... the truck has had forged Speed Pros in it since 2002 30k miles and the SB on the stand has also had forged Speed Pros in it since 2006.......lol I am happy with their stuff.

Nice engines, u got the duro shield coated pistons too . anybody used their timing chains or cam or roller rockers? would any one happen to have a part number on a double roller timing chain from Sealed power or speed pro?
