Safecraft extinguisher + Brey Krause Mount and Quick Release

Guys,

Some of my racing events require a 2.5lb fire extinguisher mounted within easy reach of a fully belted driver. Mount must also be all metal and securely mounted to the car. I like keeping a clean interior so I did not want the extinguisher visible while driving. For these reasons I decided to mount it to the back of the passenger seat.

I picked up a Safecraft 2.5lb Halon extinguisher and a Brey Krause universal seat mount and quick release. This setup works very easily for our seats and is highly adjustable. It mounts in between the seat track and seat, so it moves with the seat. You could also mount the extinguisher to the front of the seats, I just don’t want it in the way and in my view all the time.

Overall this setup is very expensive, but its so darn cool I wanted people to know it is a viable option for our cars.

The only issue with installation is the quick release was a little big for the Safecraft extinguisher. So I attached rubber gasketing tape on the quick release. That makes it a very solid fit.

Quick Release

Extinguisher

Universal Mount adjusted and installed on passenger seat.

And the whole thing installed in the car.

How cool is that! I get nervous when people say it is expensive, if you don't mind; what did this set you back?

That's pretty sweet. But can you reach the release fully belted in the driver's seat or should the release be on the top instead of the bottom?

I didn't want to say, but since you asked.

Safecraft PB2B extinguisher - $205
Brey Krause R-9540 universal mount - $132
Brey Krause R-9520 quick release - $230

Now queue the "thats more than I paid for my car" comments from the peanut gallery.

Reaching it is no issue at all. Now it would be more challenging with a 5 point harness, but no issue with stock belts. As for the release. Think about reaching behind your passenger seat from the drivers seat. Your 4 fingers will be on the bottom and in perfect position to activate the release.

nice. Fire extinguishers are never expensive for what they could possibly save...we just bought a AKE?? extinguisher for $500 on our $200k combine. It never loses pressure as it's liquid that turns to vapor and it draws to heat.

Dayum, whats that thing spray liquid gold?

Looks awesome though..seriously cant imagine what the rest of you car looks like.

I actually have a setup that I fill with water and and compressed air. Don't have a mount yet though, that mount looks pretty trick if they had one for the size of my bottle I would def pick one up.

Looks really good and you can see the quality in the pieces. I went the cheaper way but it serves its purpose. Now I'm tempted to get the heavy duty mount. Thanks

Not having your thirdgen go up in a cloud of smoke... priceless.

I like your setup best. I need to change the location of my extinguisher (hatch area of trunk), hell I probably need to change out the extinguisher too it's been in the car since 1996.
