Hawks Third Generation

Fair warning to all who pass here. Hawks Third Generation is full of , and I'm darn about it !!!

They are one of the sorriest, slowest, rip-off parts shipper's out there.

As I said to Hawks in a e-mail: "Screw me once, shame on you. You'll NEVER EVER get the chance to screw me again!"

Like I previously stated. Fair warning.

Most people here tend to think very highly of Hawks and their customer service. What exactly did they do (or not do) with their shipping to put you in such a disgruntled state? I've never personally dealt with them beyond a few emails concerning parts (and I wasn't too impressed by the fact that it took nearly two weeks to get a response in each case).

To Cat 59 ,
your order was placed on the 23rd of NOV and is scheduled for delvery on the 12/2.Your card was charged as this is a drop ship item and most of our deleveries take 7-10 business days some times faster the 2nd of December makes 10 business days so we are right in line.I do not see why we are as bad as you say we are if there was a problem so bad i would think one would be mature enough to make a phone call instead of sending threating emails and website bashing, you should think about this as it effects more than one person and is a little uncalled for.feel free to call me to discuss further

To resto roc,
I am sorry if your email wasnt anwsered in a timely matter although i am not sure what it was about as I anwser 98% of the emails here which calculates to around 200-250 a day we are very busy and I think do extremely well on turn around time so if we were slow with you I am sorry, we look forward to you possibly being a customer in the near future. Thanks for your consideration.

To all of our satified and future customers,
I am not trying to get on the board and argue with anyone I like to think there are MANY satisfied customers out there and if there is ever ANY problem in the future ALL you need to do is call and discuss like a mature adult and it will be handled if there is ANY possibilityat all to fix the problem. PLEASE think about what we say or do before we do it.
If I am given every opportunity to rectify a problem and DO NOT I can understand a response as this but i do not think this was called for as well as Mr Cathcarts email. To all of you again first and formost thank you for your business and support.

Thanks,
Sincerely,
Bruce Hawkins

Cat59: You are free to your own opinion, but I would like to make the following points:

ANY time someone has had a problem with Hawk's, I've referred them directly to Bruce, the owner of Hawk's; to my knowledge, EVERY one of the issues I've referred to him has been handled promptly and professionally. I implore you to do a search here for posts relating to Hawk's Thirdgen.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you are not here to resolve your issue, however. I hope you will try to change that. We welcome all customers of third-gen related businesses to voice their opinions on this forum, but I highly recommend you tell us your story so that we can try to empathize with your frustration.

This forum is here to HELP others. It is not a place to bash others freely without cause or explanation. Please help us to understand what happened, and/or let us help you to fix it.

I will when I have calmed down. At the moment, to speak my mind, wouldn't do anyone any good.

Whats strange is that your 1st post on this site is NEGATIVE...
One would only question everything your saying?

You come on here slandering a company with no valid points. You feel the need to post slander/ and not even go into detail about everything?

I have talked with Bruce many of times about suguestions on my car and have ordered from them before. No problem at all...

Besides we are all Human and make mistakes! Every company has done it and will. As you and we all make mistakes~ They have a great reputation and as I get extra money I will buy from them with no hesitation.

Pick up the phone. Bruce handled his response respectfully, why can't you? Hawk's is one of the few dealers who actually care enough to respond to you here so give him some credit.

Someone's got a lot to learn...

Without Hawks, I don't know where I would be. Bruce is always helpfull when I call (which in his mind is too often im sure ) and I've never had a problem with a product or service he is providing.

He even dug up bolts I needed that he didnt even normally sell.

I'm thinking the original poster maybe have had a bad experience, but without any sort of explaination, I call on him.

Don't take it to heart bruce, you know the rest of us love you

I am pretty disappointed in Cat 59 for not being able to talk to Bruce and work out his issue. (notice he bashes Hawks and we still dont know why?)

I bought my entire LT1 drivetrain from Hawks a few years back and random parts since. I have never had a problem and was very impressed with his customer service.

I was always happy with Hawks service, speed, and quality of the parts. I would never hesitate in buying anything from Bruce. I encourage others to buy from him, he is a good person to do business with.

I am a longtime Hawks customer, and longtime 'lurker' here on the 3rd gen forum. I just purchased an '89 GTA convertible from Bruce, and decided to register here finally... so I could contribute more to this community rather than just listening. My old trusty and reliable V6 '90 RS with lots of Bruce's parts on it... is now in the hands of a responsible 16 year old.

I have purchased parts from Bruce and his company since 2002 or so. I've always been VERY pleased, I have even stopped by many times on my way down I-85 in SC just to visit with them. They are a great example of a family owned business. They take their business to Carlisle and Charlotte shows every year. They have a good reputation and I feel it is very much deserved.

My 'other' car has kept me quite distracted on other forums... no forum rookie here. But one thing I have seen on these other forums are vendor issues so I'm glad to see a review section here.

Everyone can have an issue with ANY vendor, but you have to give that vendor the chance to respond to your issue before you should be blasting them in a Vendors Review Forum.

The whole aftermarket internet business for us gearheads is dependent upon two way conversation. If you can't get resolution THEN speak your peace here. I think that is the minimum you owe your fellow forum members AND the vendor. Just my opinion. My .02 cents worth. YMMV.

Yep.

Knowing Bruce, he'd have made you happy had you given him the opportunity. He'd probably make you happy now if you asked something realistic of him. He is one of the FEW that really is the sort of company we all like to deal with.

I have dealt with hawks on several occasions and everytime I always get all my questions answered. In the past year I have spent over 4k at hawks, and have been pleased with every single part , and the serrvice has been fantastic. Granted some parts took a long time to get to me, but then again they were custom fiberglass pieces and that is totally understandable. So to me i guess its strange that with so many happy customers, why wouuld hawks just pick to screw u over and not show any support outta nowhere the way ur claiming they did?

I have also had great dealings with Hawks Third Gen.
Once I ordered a product and it arraived damaged (shippers fault), Hawks immediately sent out another piece. I have gotten email responses in a day or so. I will continue to do business with them.

I have been purchasing from HAWKS since 01 or 02 and have yet to be dissatisfied. If it weren't for Bruce the might not even be any inovation in the aftermarket for thirdgens as it is today. Spohn is only one man. Roc on Bruce.

Judging by the lack in response from the original poster, I don't have much faith in his hasty claim.

Well... he did say he needed to calm down first. Maybe that will take a while longer ??

So much is done is haste and anger... 'tis a shame... but I won't sit by and let someone trash a vendor that I do business with all the time. Especially Bruce. He's an exception, period.

I've dealt with Hawks when i bought my 5" spoiler. It really didn't fit right at all and i was pretty upset about it. They were very nice about it and said if i wanted to, i could send it back and they'de send me another one. A buddy of mine does body work and got it to work for me. Over all i was very pleased with Hawks and definitly wouldn't have a problem doing business again with them in the future.

I'm thinking of buying one of these this month, has anyone else had a problem with the fit? Bruce, don't they all come out of the same mold/pattern? Why would one fit better than the other?

i was also very concerned with this. I want one of those 5" spoilers really bad (especially after seeing irocbirdbuilder's car with the spoiler and the cowl induction) but I've seen a few posts on them not fitting right. Don't want to plunk down $300 to be left with an ill fitting part and my only option expensive body work or paying return shipping fees.

One more thing about the spoiler that i bought from Hawks. I forgot to mention in all fairness to them, i did buy the spoiler within a month or two of them coming out. So i am sure since then they've had plenty of time to tweek things to get them to fit better. Another thing , i really don't see many companies out there even trying to create new things for thirdgens that much.Without Hawks in a way, everybodies car would look just about the same.

i've never had any problems with hawks. ordered my slp rims from them, even though it was cheaper to go through slp directly.

there aren't many ppl like Bruce left out there fellows.

pretty excited when i got stationed in NC, but to find out Easley, SC is in the most western part of SC oh well, only 400 miles, haha.

Still have any t-56 conversions for sale Bruce?

thanks for being a good hearted honest businessman, carrying on the american spirit.

I think his prices for the small odds and ends are a little high but, his customer service evens it out.. incase no ones has noticed but, 99% of companys could care less about the customer anymore. I am debating on buying from them in the spring but, the question is not if he is a good guy just pricing

All upset and dont even mention your actual problem.

I bought a 4th gen spoiler from Hawks and one of the tips on it were a little cracked from shipping, I didn't complain about it and it wasn't worth shipping it back. It really didn't bother me. I probably should have called them anyway but i was too excited about how cool the spoiler was. Also, bought a fender and a ground effect from hawks. The shipping sometimes can take a while but really it was faster than what i expected. So, overall I give Hawks a rating of 9.3 on a 10 point scale. Oh and my next hood will be from Hawks Third Gen...

Send a private message to Bruce Hawkins, he's the owner there and should be able to help sort out your issue. He will likely respond here as well. Just leave some contact info.

well, I can't say anything good so far............

I ordered a gear for my speedo and I told bruce I needed one for an electric speedo firebird 1989 specifically with 3.70 gears. I told him it used to be orange and was 21 teeth.. and sould have came on the 85-86 firebirds with 3.70 gears and a few other through out the years.

he said yes he has one and says it is a very hard to find part bla bla and it was goining to cost 25.00 and then 10.00 shipping

I was going to make my own but, I figured I had the money in paypal so why not get the right part and be done with it

so I order the gear with the 10.00 shipping and again I make sure he knows it needs to be a for the 1989 firebird with electric speedo and the tooth count needed by putting this info in the note box, 35.00 and over a week later I get the box from ups and guess what is inside......

a red cable speedo gear..... not only is this gear very very easy to find and still made even by gm but, it looks like the ones I have are in better shape than this one (which looks like it is brittle and sat in the sun for half it's life)

so I contact bruce send him a picture of his gear and my electric speedo gear and nicely explain he sent the wrong gear. now he says I need to send his gear and my gear back so he can match one up what the heck for 35.00 I should have gotten the right part the first time and now I need to ship this part back at my cost and I am sure wait well over a week again and hope he does not loose my gear 22 tooth at the same time.

Well,

I just bought some seats through them and am very happy. I dealt with Bruce the whole time he was the front line man.

He kept me updated throughout the transaction. Sent me email pics when they came back from the upolstry shop. The seats arrived flawless and beautiful. Thats because they went the extra step to see they were wrapped good.

He was there to answer my questions anytime...

When I was installing them I thought I had an issue with the power seats not working come to find out it was user error. He walked me through ever step of the way.

If this isn't good service then I don't know what anyone would expect from a company.

For me I will order again and again...Their everything I could want in a company I would buy from.

Yes, they are busy they are aloud to be! Not one single company is perfect. People just need to learn how to work with others to solve problems. Thanks Bruce and Hawks if your reading this fo all your help! Shawn

well just letting everyone know how it is going. yes, I am kinda pissed I not only made a point several times what I specifically needed. and having to pay for his mistake is like another slap in the face.

I will let everyone know how this turns out as everything progresses.

buisy or not makes no differance. if you pay top dollar for a part you should get top dollar service. or the right part you asked for specifically

I am here to come to the defense of Bruce and his company as well.

I was one of the people who bought one of the high rise spoilers he offered first. He warned that it might not fit my car right as the 88 models are kinda different as to how they mount.

But no, I wouldn't listen.. Oh I can make it work ok.

No I couldn't.... Was it his fault? NO!!

But what did he do for me? Accepts the parts back and makes new ones just for me so they would fit my car right!

If that isn't service I don't know what is. I would buy from him anytime, he is a stand up guy, that is obvious from his responses here in this thread even.

You may have had a bad experience but i have NEVER had a problem with Bruce. I had a few issues with my LS1 swap i did this summer and he went above and beyond to help me.

I love Hawks last time I ordered from there I got my stuff sooner than I ever expected. I have never delt with a better company in my life. Im always sending them emails with questions about there products, and they always answer, and know what they are talking about. I have, and will probaly always get all of my third gen parts from Hawks(except for the quick junkyard runs) lol).

Hawks,

You don't know me (yet), but ive been a customer in the past, very pleased with what I got and am currently starting a camaro resotoration. There is no other company ill stand behind other then yours when it comes to honest, quality, and good priced products for my 3rd gen. Posts like these are not a accurate reflection upon your buisness and will not affect your loyal customers like myself.

I look forward to our future buisness transactions together, take care
Aaron

I've only had one experience with Hawks but it was excellent. My column was stripped about a year ago and I couldn't find another locally. They gave me a better price shipped overnight than what they wanted locally if they would have had one around here. The Z was good as new the following day. Thanks Hawks!!!
