Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
Hello all,
Just thought I'd share with you my experience with hawks third gen. I ordered a few parts from them, one of which was a driver side outer door handle. I received the parts pretty quickly, however they sent me a passenger side door handle. No big deal right? Just call and they will correct the problem quickly right??? Wrong. I called on a Wednesday, left a message and explained politely what the problem was and asked for a call back. Two days later no response. Friday, I call again a little less understanding perhaps but still polite and completely professional. Monday comes and no call, so I place a third call on Tuesday by which point I was pissed and didn't mind telling them so. They finally responded and after repremanding me for using the F word in my message, Bruce said that they were on vacation and the few people in the office were just too busy to call me back. I feel I was justified in being upset and asked him to overnight or at least 2nd day the part to me. And even though he hung up the phone on me without apologizing or saying goodbye, I got the impression he would send the part promptly.
Anyway, another week and a half go by and still no part. I call again leave another polite and profanity free message, yet no call back. Called again the next day and WOW someone answered the phone. She told me that they didn't have the part and couldn't even get the part and the bruce had called me and left a message saying so, and that she even heard him leave me the message. I can assure you never recieved a message from them so I must assume they are as dishonest as they are unprofessional. Needless to say I will not give them any more of my hard earned money.
In hindsight I guess my order wasn't big enough to warrant good customer srevice. Perhaps they should have a part number for quality customer service that you can pay extra for. If Bruce was as good at giving fine customer service as he was at giving lame, delayed, excuses perhaps there would be no problem with hawks, until then I would shop elsewhere for parts.
BEWARE HAWKS 3rd GEN and go with someone who appreciates your business. Bruce does not.

Re: Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
I have bought plenty of parts from Hawks and have had absolutley no problems with them. Once I was shipped a part that didn't match my vehicle exactly (Windshield Wiper Motor), I explained that it wasn't the right one and Bruce sent me a new motor free of charge. He didn't even ask for the old motor back.
I am sorry that you had a bad deal with them, I hope it was all a misunderstanding, but as far as I know, I have been able to trust Hawks fully.

First off isn't damn considered profanity? And after leaving 3 unanswerd messages anybody would be mad enough to swear. Secondy, I don't recall asking for your opinion. I was only warning others of the lack of customer service and appreciation that hawks provides it's customers. So back off pal.

Re: Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
I sent an email to hawks three days ago and no answer. I was inquiring about a part and shipping charges to Ontario, Canada.
Not a big deal as I can always order the item on ebay but I thought I would give the biz to a thirdgen.org sponsor an support the companies who support us.
I guess they don't want my business which is unfortunate. Also, I am part of an fbody club with over 200 plus members.

Give Bruce a break...he said he was on vacation. I'd chew you out as well for leaving the F-word on my machine. Grow up and have a little patience.

I never had a problem with them, he is a good guy and honest. Once I ordered the expensive Ronals and UPS damaged the lip on 2 of them and Bruce did not question me, nicely said he was taking it up with UPS and sent me 2 more with the cutom red insert painted free of charge. Andy

Never had a probem with Hawks myself, even when I called just to get info they were willing to help.
And I'll keep my opinion to myself which is what you need to do and that's a fact.

Just thought I could save some people a lot of headaches and wasted time by warning them of the unprofessional attitude I received from hawks. If some or most of you have had good luck with them then I am very happy for you. I simply stated that I had no end of trouble from start to finish and wouldn't recommend them to anybody I considered a friend.

Reply to "THE PROJECT"!
I already inquired about a shipping quote to Montreal, Quebec regarding the Ronal wheels wich shipped for 120.00$ within continental US and Bruce replied to me promptly but with an OVERPRICED shipping fees of 300.00$
I already bought couple set of wheels, and even some 20' costed me 140.00$ from Miami. If you look at their Ebay listings, it<s clearly mentionned that they only ship to USA.
Guess I will go over there while I am on vacation to buy their new long tube headers;-)

Again, maybe you ought to grow up a bit before you start making demands of me or other members on here, as well as one of the few reputable 3rd gen vendors that support this site and willing to support short tempered punks such as yourself.

I've had a number of business deals with Hawks, once it took them over a week to respond, but I've been very happy with them in spite of any problems. They're a small shop and and can be VERY busy, especially when Bruce and his wife are on vacation! It's a car, not a heart transplant.
And by posting here, and especially your attitude toward both members and sponsors, you demanded other opinions, weather you like them or not.
As a businessman, the more unpleasant you are, the less of a priority solving your problem would become. You chose to become hostile, so I'm sure you'll enjoy your Passenger Side door handle forever now. Consider it a cheap lesson in patience and how to treat people that you want to help you. Treating everyone like they are powerless invites them to prove you wrong.

Re: Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
Heu guys:
Gotta tell ya', I ordered an aerowing for my GTA from Hawks and was told 5 weeks. I received it in 3!! Packaging from what I've seen in other threads leaves something to be desired but Hawk's says, check it before you receive it and they'll replace. So, will I buy from them again? Definitely. Is the shipping to Canada expensive (by the way its international, despite what some may think)? If the shipping bothers you, get a US postal address and ship to there.
So, to sum up, Hawk's is good, customer service is good, copping an attitude - just don't get you anywhere. Try that the next time you get pulled over for the instant feedback.

Re: Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
Ive never had ANY issues. Somethies its mis-communication, hearing what you want, thinking youre always right, flying off the handle at a mistake, etc. To be honest if I went on vacation and came back to a rude message, Ill pull the Ignore Card and loose your business too. Theres always 2 sides to every story. Im not saying whos wrong and right, but until they treat me like that 1st hand, they will always have my business.

Re: Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
Unfortunately this is an OPEN forum. Opinions are a part of posting. If you want to start the 96Iroc forum and have rules like "post info and opinions that are the same as mine" then go ahead. Its OK to post your personal experiences and post your views....but when a respected and long-time member post up his opinion, it isnt nessesary for you to come back and take punches at them. Its pretty clear now what the mixup was with the Vendor. I think Bruce's reputation here is established and not in danger. =) Enjoy

Re: Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
Seems alot of people are very defensive, but if you experience bad customer service, I believe you shoud be free to mention it. There are enough people chasing our dollars that unless hawks in the only one to carry and item, let your dollar do the voting. If I had to call three times I would probably drop an extra adjetive also. It's a shame it had to go there, but it is your dollar and you do have a voice if someone treats you poorly. Maybe a good lesson for both you and for hawks.

Sounds like typical Hawk's wonderful customer service to me
This is just one of several reasons I wouldn't buy parts from these idiots, if they were the last Thirdgen parts dealer on earth. I would just buy a different car

I think that if most of the staff is on vacation, then the reasonable thing to do would have been to change the answering machine message to reflect this, so that customers don't feel like they're being ignored and things get out of hand. I'm not touching the rest of this thread with a 10 foot pole, but figured someone ought to say it.

Re: Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
Hawks only has a couple of people in the office, max. If you call on any given day there's a pretty good chance you'll talk to Bruce. He owns the place and is sitting there answering phones, that's about the definition of a small-scale operation. If you need information right away, call. I've only gotten an email back once, but hey, it wasn't that important. If it was, I would have (and I have) called. Always got good service from them.

Re: Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
You think Hawk's is shady because they want your CC over the phone? Call Autozone. Tell them you want to special order a part over the phone. What do they want? Your CC number? Really? :O Amazing. Because the internet has been around for ever and obviously everyone can afford to pay the web processing fees.
Oh, and I went through and read your posts on here. Calm down. You sling accusations on everyone about everything. Also, turn off caps lock, get a screwdriver, remove the key from your keyboard, and eat it. Never ever be tempted to turn it on again.

Correction. The customer is always right...in knowing what they want. Which in most cases is the wrong thing. After working in the auto industry and having to explain to people what they want isnt what they need.... i've come to love that phrase. Say some guy goes to a big o "Give me 4 new tires... and make it quick" for one, they're gonna think you're an ignorant *****, and two they won't be too apt to help. Pick your words wisely before you speak and it wont get you in trouble.

How true. A guy came in today wanting plugs for his Toyota.
"What size engine is it?"
"It's, uh, it's a two liter."
"You sure? Says it can have the two liter or the 1.8 liter."
"Yea. It's a two liter."
*buys plugs, leaves, returns two hours later*
"It was a 1.8 liter. I need to return the plugs for the right ones."

OK. I have talked about this before and will dig it up again. 8 months ago I ordered door panels for my Firebird. If you look at site you see nice cut out panels. What I recieved was capet and pleather glued to a piece of cardboard. They are still in my garage in the Hawks box. I emailed Hawks and they side steped the issues.(cheaply made) The places for the door handle and locks is dotted to cut out. What happens when you cut out handle and material starts to contract. I ordered the carpet while they were on vacation during X Mas. I called back 4 hours later and cancelled. They got the order but not the cancelation, that was proably the next message.

96Iroc: I can't believe you just insulted ebmiller. You really are a noobie here. If you had an ounce of knowledge you would know that he is pretty much the BEST person to talk to about getting great deals on brake parts. He has been around for a long time and has always had very informative and helpful posts. You are going to tell me that he is a punk? Just goes to show who is the real punk here. Go run off a cliff and stop wasting our nice clean air. Anyway to ban people for being down right ignorant?

Re: Beware Hawks 3rd gen.
I sent an email to hawks three days ago and no answer. I was inquiring about a part and shipping charges to Ontario, Canada.
Not a big deal as I can always order the item on ebay but I thought I would give the biz to a thirdgen.org sponsor an support the companies who support us.
I guess they don't want my business which is unfortunate. Also, I am part of an fbody club with over 200 plus members.

You guys really ned to call for quotes, I can say that he honestly has 3 people working in the office besides himself and the phone rings alot and Bruce is a very busy person himself. And for 96Iroc, had you called and was polite, you probably would have goten a better reponse than you did. When I did customer service, I always responded etter to people who were nice vs people who were jerks.

96Iroc, you should really consider your attitude as a possible reason you are having trouble. You also should go over the rules you agreed to when signing up as a member of TGO. Insulting other members IS NOT tolerated.
