It is going to be 4thgen pewter, well the silverist pewter version I can get. Believe it or not, GM has about 5-6 different versions of pewter and its all called pewter. It seems every car I see is a different shade...Weird! Some I like some I hate. The lighter version like I'm getting is the one I like! The painter mixed it in its lightest version.

Yep! Building, and painting! That is a rough draft of course, but Devian has it pretty close. The flames will be multi-layered an intertwining. I plan to go from black to metallic black, to a candy black, to a ghosted pearl with some candy blue tips! It will have a 383 LT1...and if all goes well it will be ready for the TA Nats in OH this year. May not have all the goodies then, but we hope to at least have it in competing form. I don't think the hood goes with the nose at all. Its a rounded hood going into a squared off nose. Just my opinion though.

Well I was looking at all the hoods I could. I'm partial to a Ram Air hood of some kind. I have now seen about all of them with the KITT nose & scanner. I knew it should look good with the same hoods as a 91-92 does, since they both have the turn signals relocated in the lower part of the bumper. Thus they have a flat nose that is even with the hood edge. So that left the ASCD RAI & II. To me the RAI looked odd because of how it lined up with the scanner hole in the nose...the 2 did not look right together. The RAII had that beastly look I thought would got with the HP. Now that I have seen it with the nose I like it!

There are different noses and scanners out on the market. Robert Yancey on ebay sells a nose molded from an orignal for $450 redraif has one of his noses. The orignal nose did not fit perfectly since it only had to look good on camera so some wiggling of the fenders and hood might be needed to make it fit right. Mark from Marks Custom Kits sells his nose for $600 unfinished and his scanner for $450. Some say his nose is too pointy though, because its his rendition of the KITT nose. Don Colie from Adanced Designs sells his nose for $950 unfinished and his scanner also for $450. In the replica community you'll hear that his nose is the best looking and fitting out there. Bill from Bills Custom Conversions sells his for $450 unfinished and two different scanners one for $425 and the other for $350. BKAUTO sells two versions a $700 versoin and an $800 version also molded from an original and also a $450 scanner. Knight Passions sells a very nice looking first and second season nose for $570. You can always buy a JC Whitney scanner for about $30 looks the part but not as bright as the custom conversion ones....its bright at night just not really too visible during the day.

Well I got the side and rear gfx off a car at a junk yard. Its the 85-90 style. I plan to work with the side pipes to route them in the gfx. Now the frt effects off of the KITT nose....well that is going to take some fabricating. I have some messed up nose & fender pieces off a 91-92 camaro I might try to graft on. Or I may come up with my own that I make from fiber glass. The frt effects are for the time being going to be the stock 82 gfx. The lower pices on the back gfx we have to fabricate as well. So the basic plan is pretty easy. The bells and whistles will take custom fabing!

OMG - the red light is worth $800?

I dumped the red light kit that my car had when I bought it cuz I thought it was cheesy... It had the adjustable speed control, and had an interior mounted box with LEDs that said "Knight Rider" on it...

DAMN! Why did I throw that out?

Well no matter it wasnt worth $.03 of my time to do all that ebay crap for $50. Somewhere it exists in the Volusia County, FL land fill... Plus one of the light lenses came off anyhow at about 110 mph...

Anyhow, no flame intended, but isn't the whole Knight Rider thing just really 80's? I mean, hasn't it been done 10,001 times by now?

yes, the Knight Rider thing has been done lots of times... but if you notice.. most of the people on here are just using the nose, or other parts to make their own custom car. There arn't that many parts for one to use to make their car unique. And so what if Knight Rider is 80's? Arn't most of our cars????

Did you read my post? I outlined the price of every nose and scanner on the market at the moment. As well as link everyone of the places you could get one at. I believe there is an $800 scanner that Mark sells but it isnn' worth it. The scanner that you had was a JC Whitney scanner which is about $35 and it isn't all that great....same one that Xophertony's dad most likely had. The ones on ebay that go for $50 are exactly the same as the JC Whitney ones...they're just ripping people off.

i think the bumper is nasty lookin how it is but if u add some sort of gfx to the bottom of the bumper to make it look not so pointy is would look good. just my thoughts.

Yeah if you have the skill you can make one for less. There are plans on the internet to modify an existing JC Whitney control box to allow it to drive 55W halogen bulbs....and how to make your own bulb housing from material readily found at Home Depot. I believe the reason that Knight Rider replica parts are so expensive is because the manufactureres know people are gonna pay whatever price they say because the overwhelming majority cannot mold their own nose and dash or make the electronics and scanner. If you think about it a nose is only but a few tens of dollars in material yet some charge up to almost $1000 for one. I guess its how it goes.

I'm working on my own JC conversion. I have a trashed one in the basement. Instead of using all the resistors and such as the internet one says... I'm going to see what will happen if I just get regular car relays and use them. It worked to split my wiring for my headlight conversion. Now I have the high and low beams on at once when high beams is selected! Not sure if it will work, but I have been collecting relays from junkyards and have enough to make about 6 KITT light conversions if it works! If the controller box works like I think it does it should be very easy!

Hell yeah!!! I like it alot man. I wouldn't do it to my daily, but definitely for show. Knight Rider is the S@&#!!! Only ONE thing better than Kit though, and that's the General Lee...

You should make molds when you do this so it can be reproduced you could make some big bucks h ell even if someone dosn't like the KR thing (which I do) you could sell the modded side and rear pannels they would look bitchin on any 3rd gen

Well if we can work out something that will be easy to duplicate, I will see what I can do to repro it. Can't promise anything though.

Heck, right now the car is in a strorage building because the place we had the car at changed their closing date and told us we had to have everything out ovver the weekend of 6-21. They told us, on 6-20. Well actually the mentioned it on the side to another guy who was nice enough to tell us! They told him if the stuff was not out that following Monday, it would be hauled off!. Real cool of them, eh? So we had only enough time to get a good coat of primer on and move the cars out! the 82, Joes 85TA, my Scout II, along with its spare roof, and all the parts for Joe's 87. Took us all weekend...

So now I have no clue when the car will be completed. We have to find a place to work on it, then a place to paint it. What a mess!
