Weld Wheels

Ive been looking at getting a set of either weld prostars or rodlites for a while and Im leaning toward the prostars but I figured Id see what every one else thought. To put it in context theyll be goin on my black and silver (the fact "earnhardt" style paint job) '82 Z28.

Rodlite

Sorry for just linking to them it wasnt letting me post the actual pics. If anyone has pics of a camaro with rodlites Id like to seem them too.

Agreed, the rod lites have a stamped look ... it kinda reminds me of Wally World plastic hubcaps?

Re: Weld Wheels

My 2001 5 spoke prostar weld racing rims are falling apart. I have not hit anything or even done anything out of the norm with my 92 camaro and there is a good sized crack in the middle of my rim the crack is all the way through and it is along 3 of the 5 spokes. also the rim is becoming spilt in half the font and back parts of the rim are coming apart a crack big enough to put a tooth pick in. Very dangerous and could have had major problems if i hadnt noticed. So im not a big fan of weld right now just look into a warantee. btw i torqued the rims at the right foot pounds too. I have the worst luck lol. all said and done the 5 spoke prostar weld rims r sexy.

Re: Weld Wheels

Im not worried about the quality of welds products Ive had good luck in the past and well drive to your nearest track and look in the pits at least half the cars have welds on 'em. Not saying I dont believe you GMODUDE or that your wrong. You must have got the set that had issues luck of the draw lol.

Re: Weld Wheels

i wonder if he rechecked them often to make sure the torque spec was correct. I've had 10 pairs of different weld rims on various cars with no issues whatsoever with street driving it.

Re: Weld Wheels

I have Weld Prostar's, I think they look really good. However, there is some history of them failing.
http://2loose.chevytalk.org/weldrims.html (scroll down a little)

I don't think that they would be a problem on our cars nor do I worry about mine, but thought you should see that link.

Re: Weld Wheels

Got a set but can't really keep them clean. Any ideas, I am going to be using rubbing compound on them with a dremel. It seamed to get them clean but can see dark pits in them.

Re: Weld Wheels

just thought I'd throw this out there, but since American Racing bought weld wheels, I have heard the quality has gone down. But Greg Weld has started making his own rims again, and they look like prostars.

Ive heard some bad stuff too but I still think they are decent. I kinda like the new greg welds does anyone have a pic of them on a thirdgen preferably black. Or a pick of them on anything? Id try to photoshop it but Im not skilled eneough to get it done right lol. If some one wants to try for me my car looks exactly like the black and grey '82 under camaro pictures on this site.

Re: Weld Wheels

Sadly Greg Weld passed away earlier this year I believe due to health reasons and unfortunatly I dont believe anyone is carrying on Greg Weld Designs which sucks because the new wheels were bitchin'. Greg Weld was a true pioneer and one of the greatest contributors to our sport and will be dearly missed.
