Ram air hoods in the rain?
ok if you got a ram air hood and it rains, wouldn't rain get into it and eventually into the airfilter and such? someone explain this to me how you don't get a ton of water in your intake. thanks

Well...I have a TPI setup on my 91 Z28....and I have the SS ram air hood. So.....the air fliters can't get wet.....but...my plenum does get a little wet...when I drive it in the rain...I try not to though....I would like to make something to block the ram air opening, so it wouldn't get wet. Since I poished it....the water drops leave little rings..and I have to rebuff it everytime...

Some ram air hoods (esp ones with functional airboxes like Redraif's Suncoast RA1) have a rain deflector built in, just behind the opening, and a few drain holes for the excess water. I have never noticed any rainwater getting past the airfilter (K&N), since the oil repels it. My 97 SS filter was always getting wet until I put the K&N in it. It wasn't enough to do any damage, just enough wrinkle the filter a little.
