Cigarette Lighter Won't Stay In Now....Why?

Well I've had the cigarette lighter out of my car for a good 6 or 7 years now since my radar detector was plugged in there. I also use it for my power inverter when I datalog. I hardwired in my radar detector yesterday and when I went to reinstall the lighter it was loose in the recepticle and wouldn't stay in at all. Is it possible that the larger plugs from the radar detector and power inverter bent something inside there so it won't stay in now? If so which part is bent? A pic would be very helpful if possible.

Ok got it straightened out. Here's the fix for the rest of you. Pull the fuse for the accessories or disconnect the battery. About 3/4" into the recepticle there are 2 tabs that face backward into the dash. If you use a pick or a small screwdriver you can bend these back into the opening. This snugged it right up.....5 minute fix.
