I was wondering if anyone knew if there is any type of bondo that is made for plastic bumpers. I dont mean the plastic bumper repair kits (kinda like a 2-part epoxy) I mean like bondo. I have seen pictures online of it, you lay it on and sand it just the same as any other body filler.

I need something that is light and will harden good. Something that will adhere to a flexible bumper cover, and fill in some pretty deep scratches. Not any actual dents or tears or anything. Also, it needs to dry to be sandable, but still remain flexible enough not to pop out of the bumper if that bends.

I went to autozone and pepboys, but all they have is the reguar bondo's.

3m makes some stuff that works really well. Like if you have deep scratches into the plastic...just mix it up spread it on let it dry and sand it.

So where would they sell this stuff?

Also, no it isnt my car. I backed my mom's volvo into a brand new 07 caddillac deville. So I gotta fix my moms car, and then pay the guy with the cadillac whatever the cost of the repair is (prolly 3-6k dollars)

I've used some fiberglass type stuff that stayed somewhat flexible after drying, think it was called tiger hair or something... can't remember for sure but it was rather expensive.

i think tiger hair is for quick structual reapairs.(floor boards and heavy rust.) it will not sand to a paintable finish and i would have a hard time believing that it would be flexible. glazing putty, spotting puddy, will work for scratches and still remain flexible.

So that bondo spot putty that comes in the little tube will stay flexible?

i used glazing putty on scratches in my bumpers and ground effects and they came out very well and are holding up fine about 2 and a half years later. unfortuanly im not sure how it will hold up on areas that flex alot. i was lucky and all my scrapes were in curves and pretty structured areas of the bumper that wont flex if someone leans on it for example.

my local body shop guy told be to repair my bumper with the epoxy kit then run a skim coat of puddy over all the repair areas. i was just warned not to use sand paper finer then 220Grit when preping for puddy. another thing that tells me this is a good way to repair bumpers is the fact that every time i see an import tuner car getting ready for paint the front and rear bumpers always have green patches. i have seen it on Tv, at the local body shop, and of course my favorite....on the road.

I'm glad this question came up..... My Camaro's nose on either side of the front emblem is sunken a bit. I think that putty will work. I'm having the car painted soon, so I'll post the results later.

I used permatex 5 min epoxy(sold at advance and some walmarts). I use that for harder plastics a lot, works great for hard plastics. It works on the bumper but I don't know how long it will work.

I would rather use the 3m stuff because I always hear body guys recommending it. If I could get an official name of the 3M product or get the part number for it then I might have better luck finding it. Then again, if the 3M epoxy is very similar to my permatex epoxy...

por putty is holding up on my bumper for the last 6-9 months. don't think it's flexible though...

rage body filler will work.....it doesnt cow patty after time like the cheaper body fillers

i dont know why you wouldn't want to use the 2 part problem plastic repair, it does exactly what you are wanting to do. sem sells a good one.
