Look @ this! A C3 Vette hood on a Maro?

Hey, I browsing when I found this.
I always loved this hood on the 1968-1969 C3 corvette. This guy claims to have got this 3rd gen this way from the last owner, guess it was a quick fab. Looks like a type LT 3rd gen... What do you think?

I was actually going to buy it, fix it (as you can see it needs just a bit of work) and put it on my car... I think it looks cool, opinions?

I don't think it looks bad and could see how some people would like it. I still don't get the Daytona hood

I want to say that at least one company used to offer a hood like that for the Camaro. But that one looks more like an add on scoop. Either way it looks a bit out of place. Aftermaket hoods and scoops are a bit polarizing. People either like them or they don't. If you like it, then don't let anyone discourage you. Just be prepared for the criticism.

Re: Look @ this! A C3 Vette hood on a Maro?

That's just an aftermarket glass scoop glued on to a Camaro hood---and also goes to show why metal hoods shouldn't have glass scoops glued on---The two materials, fiberglass and sheetmetal, expand and contract at very differet rates and the seams will crack....

Re: Look @ this! A C3 Vette hood on a Maro?

That's commonly called an "L-88" scoop. I personally like them, but the one pictured is just a little on the small side. Still looks decent though.

Yea, I thought the same too.. I guess the maro hood is really that much larger then the vette hood.

I like it. I wouldn't want it on a Firebird, but I think it looks good on the Camaro.

Re: Look @ this! A C3 Vette hood on a Maro?

it looks "ok" but my personal opinion is the only hoods that belong on 3rd gen camaros are stock (RS Berlinetta the plain hood) or the Z28 hood with the blisters (not Iroc). I just think with their body style a cleaner look is better. however that is only my opinion and I am in the minority here I'm sure. If you like it I say go for it, it doesn't look hideous by any means it actually looks pretty good.

I do like the way it looks, but I can barely see to the front of the car with the RS hood on there lol! I have no idea what I would do with this set up...

You can buy a complete fiberglass hood, with that same scoop built in.

I remember that 1 Stephen...I couldn't think of the thread but the visual has stuck!!

I like this 1-- it has a mean, clean look & fits the 3rdGen large flat hood very well.

Re: Look @ this! A C3 Vette hood on a Maro?

i don't think they look to bad. i got a fiberglass stingray hood and fiberglass is the way to go if you ask me don't be cheap and do what they did on that hood cause no matter how its done it will sooner or later just break again my brother had a ss hood scoop put on his 74 camaro and it has been fixed twice sense he got it 6 years ago and just a couple months ago it started breaking again
