1LE RH Spindle #18060582 for $319.40 OUCH!!!

Is this a complete waste of money? The LH spindle is easy enough to get but a pair of GM Spindles for $600, WOW. Not sure about the availablity of the Anchor Plates but either way that's a lot of money. All I want to do is put together a complete 1LE GM assembly without taking the Sawzall to my original '92 Z28 Spindles. Aftermarket kit are better but I just like GM parts.

Thanks,
Eric

My impression was that those parts were no longer available through GM. Many of us have modded the spindles ($20-40 at the bone yard if you don't want to carve yours up) and either put a kit together or purchased one from Spohn. Here's link that may be of use:

They exist, you just have to know what dealerships still have these discontinued parts in their own inventory. In other words they never sold them back to GM. One dealership in PA wanted $395.19 for ONE RH spindle (only one they have) and another in Las Vegas was willing to part with their's for $319.40. Another dealership actually had an Anchor Plate but it was for the LH. I could very well be asking for the wrong part, but it's either a 1LE Spindle for a '89-92 Camaro or not. Still a lot of money, but like I said I prefer to use factory GM parts rather than modified pieces. Probably gonna grab the one for $319.40 in PA.

Later,
Eric

From my point of view, yes. That said, the car and money is yours, so do what makes you content. By the way, you're right: dealership locators can be very useful.

I have an original 1LE RH spindle and bracket. I gotta double check though.

Factory GM 1LE spindles are modified pieces.

Really, I was not aware of that. The 1LE spindles are not separate castings?

Thanks,
Eric

They don't seem to be. For the limited number of 1LE equipped cars that were produced it seems like they just cut the ears off and tapped the holes instead of putting a lot of money into new castings.

If that's the case the why do 1LE Spindle's have different Casting #'s. Also I could be mistaken, but 6+ years ago I installed a complete factory 1LE brake assembly on a '91 Z28 and the Front tires were pushed out by 1/2" compared to the stock spindles. The Z even had to be aligned after the install so the 1LE spindles did something to the position of the tires. I removed the 1LE brakes before selling the car and unfortunately sold the assembly at that time. Wish I hadn't because the '92 needs the brakes bad.

Thanks,
Eric

They don't have different casting numbers. They have different part numbers. The tires are further out because of the rotors, not the spindles.

JamesC's idea is the best and the cheapest. It also happens to be what I did.

AFAIK, dealer stock was exhausted long ago.
