C-4, C-5, or C-6 Brakes for my '83 Z-28
Hey Fellas,
I have an '83 Z-28 with 4 wheel disc brakes. I would like to run the larger rotor and 4 - 6 piston calipar of the Corvette set up on the front of my car. I was told to look for the 1le set up, but I found out the Corvette bakes are cheaper in the long run (as in disc and pad replacement). any help or ideas would be greatly appreicated. Guy

AFAIK, only the 1LE's will clear your *STOCK* 15" wheels - if that's what you're still running.

If cheapness is your priority, then the 18" rims you'll need are a contradiction.

Oh yeah, I forgot! I will be getting 17X10s for the front and rear w/ 5.5 inches of backspacing.

Depending on the brand of wheel, maybe C6 Z51 2-piston fronts will clear.
C5/C6 regular fronts will fit most 17" rims, but again it depends on the brand.

My buddies are trying to talk me into buying Z06 wheels, which are 17X9.5 for the front and 18X10.5 for the rear. The thing is I would need 2.25 inch spacer for the front and a 2 inch spacer for the rear. Bumping up to 18 inch wheels is not a problem. I just do not want to go aftermarket brake system not only because of cost, but I would like to take a ride to the local Chevy dealership or parts store and getting a new rotor and pads on the spot instead of waiting for a delivery. The Zee is being set up for street/road racing and way I like to drive, I am going to need pads and rotors every other month.
