Replacing stock 4x6's with 2 ways?

I have some used 4x6 Pioneer TS P461 2 ways. I want to replace my stock 4x6's. The Pioneers have a two prong wire that comes out the Tweeter. I also need to run a two prong wire from the woofer as well. Can I splice the woofer and tweeter wire into the wire that runs to the stock radio? Or do I need some type of crossover?

To get a decent sound you need a cross over. It kinda defeats the purpose of having a separate woofer and tweeter if you send the same frequencies to them both.

Any recommendations on brands and potential cost? Also where should I place the crossover as in best location so I have no rattles?

Everyone will have an opinion on what they think the best crossover is. Its all mostly personal preference. I dont run a crossover so I cant suggest what I use. However, it doesnt matter where you put the cross over, just know that it takes one input wire for each speaker, and has 2 outputs per speaker with 2 wire per output. (hi and mid/low, pos & neg). So its usually easier to mount them near the speakers so the youre not running a lot of wires through the car.
