setting up/adjusting kickdown for 700R4 and holley carb.

i am missing a part of the kickdown for my trans, and wanted to fabricate a bracket for it, but i didnt know about the tension so i called holley.

their tech rep. said that the 700R4's are really fussy with the kickdown and can burn up really easy if they are not adjusted right.

does anybody know how to properly adjust the kickdown cable?

http://www.streetrodparts.tv/700R4_hookup.htm This link shows you how to adjust and make sure everything is right.

Another: http://www.tciauto.com/Products/Inst...ble_adjust.htm

I personally bought two parts from a local guy who got them from TCI. www.tciauto.com They sell the adapter for holleys.

Did the Holley tech rep mention the throttle arm corrector bracket?

What Holley do you have? I doubt it's too old for that corrector bracket to work.

Re: setting up/adjusting kickdown for 700R4 and holley carb.

i have both those pieces on my 650DP. they work alright. i get my double downshift 4-2 when its on the floor, but my shift points are a little off.

I have a TV made EZ kit chilling in my car waiting to go on, if that says anything.

If you can, post a picture of the throttle arm from the side. That was a "universal" carb, most likely the corrector bracket will fit. If not, get a new primary throttle shaft from Holley (or Proform, or Quick Fuel, or. . . ).

Re: setting up/adjusting kickdown for 700R4 and holley carb.

Does anyone have the measurement from the factory q-jet TV cable to the bracket? Also can anyone verify that the TV cable should be fully extended at WOT? I got both brackets from TCI but im not sure if its bolt in and go.
