my carb looks like its leaking gas from this spot (circled in picture) is this possible to leak there and what to do to fix it, Thanks.

It would have to be leaking from somewhere else first.

OK, so its not possible to leak from there and its just running down and dripping off there, should i just buy a rebuild kit ? or its there a common gasket that should be replaced ?

First guess would be fuel bowl gasket.

Thank you, when inspecting this i noticed this bolt on the carb was stripped (in picture below) now theres was a plastic washer there i took it off and put bolt back in, got it pretty tight, my question is does that washer have to be there ? or can i get a 2 inch 12/24 bolt to fit in there, i noticed the original bolt is 1 7/8 in length is there room for the extra 1/8" in there ? sorry for all the question but could u also tell which part of the carb this is ? The bolt missing in your picture is a fuel bowl mount bolt.

The head of the bolt needs a soft washer under it to seal. I prefer nylon (plastic), but stock is a paper washer/gasket.

Is the bolt stripped, or the threads in the carb body stripped? The best bet to repair the carb threads is to put a helicoil in the bolt hole with the stripped threads. Not a bad idea to do all 8 while you're at it. I forget the size/thread for those bolts off the top of my head, but I got the information a couple of years ago on this forum. So, a search should find it.

Thanks, the bolt looks fine so its the inside the carb, im almost positive this is a 12/24 stainless bolt but these are very rare, so im assuming i need 12/24 helikit do u remember the lenght of heli? or is there a specific kit for my application ? and if i remove this fuelbowl will i have to replace anything else (gaskets...) ?

ok, cant find helikits anywhere around me, is there a reason these fuel bowl bolts cant be tapped to 1/4" ?

thanks for the help but ive fixed the bowl, i have a small leak coming from the accelerator pump, im wondering what exactly i should change to fix this and at the same time is it worth it to upgrade to a 50cc ? and do i just need the 50cc accelerator pump diaphragm or do i need the whole conversion kit ? if not what should i change in my original pump to fix the leak ? Thanks alot.

No reason for the 50cc pump.

It's the diaphragm, housing, arm, and cam that make up a 50cc pump.

thanks five7kid, so what should i change in my current pump to fix the leak, someone was telling something about filing something flat but im not exactly sure... if the parts are cheap id rather just replace what i need, do i just need the pump cover or should i buy the diaphragm too ?

The diaphragm is the gasket.

Pull the pump off and see what's what. No need to buy parts until you know what's wrong.

How did you fix the bowl? I just got a 12-24 helicoil kit from NAPA. I did all 8 fuel bowl bolt holes while I was at it.

i cant find helicoils here anywhere in toronto so i had a carb shop do it for me, as soon as i put it back on the car, started it for a couple minutes then shut it off ran my finger under the pump and already a small amount of fuel on my finger, i know the gas is coming from the pump area, the parts seem inexpensive and im tired of trial and error i just want to replace anything in the pump that may cause it to leak.. im just not sure what to buy

Honestly man, I had the same carb to start with. I had nothing but problems with leaking then accelerator pump, then the little o-ring on the transfer tube and so on.. I'm not sure what your using this carb on, i.e what sort of application. stock, mild, or worked motor, but your best bet would be sell it on e-bay and find you a 4150 or even 4160 on e-bay and spend the money on a rebuild kit for it and go from there. There much easier to find parts for, at least here in the states. The 4175 isnt that bad of a carb for a stock motor but from the sounds of the headaches, your better off upgrading. By the time your done spending money on the 4175 you could have had almost half or all the money for a used carb online and a rebuild kit... Just my opinion, there like buttholes everyone has one...lol... Or if needed I still have my 4175 sitting in the garage with an accelerator pump leak as well. I could sell it to you dirt cheap for parts or something, Let me know.. Good luck either way you go.....

thats why i want to replace everything in the pump one time and be done, im not wasting money on a new carb when i can rebuild the whole pump for $30, a local carb shop told me just file the cover but id rather just buy new and this carb runs amazing on my car compared to the old rochester i took off, all i want to know is what i should buy so i can do this one time.

I was going to suggest running a fine flat file over it as well.

Check for cracks when you have it apart. Overtightening will do nasty things.
