High and low beam cut off when high beam active

Car: 1986 Camaro IROC-Z
Engine: 305 4-bbl carb V8 VIN H
Transmission: Standard
High and low beam cut off when high beam active
This problem just happened not too long ago... I just got my car back from the paint shop, and before it got dark I decided to make sure all my lights worked. Both low beams worked, and one high beam was out. Later that evening I turned on my high beams and all of my lights cut off (No Low beams, no High beams). I clicked the switch to low beam again and the low beams came on. Then high beam... Nothing!!!!! Just parking lights!!!! The High Beam indicator on the dash doesnt come on anymore also. I replaced the bad bulb, but still nothing works. I checked the fuse but no luck. Is there anything specific I should look for? Is there another fuse or circuit breaker somewhere? Also my reverse lights dont come on. They come on whenever they want....

☼ ☼ Beams Seem….. ☼ ☼
It sounds like the dimmer switch is not engaging properly due to misalignment.
If you have tilt steering make sure it’s operating with no play.
You can adjust the Dimmer by loosening the hardware at the bottom of the column, then slide it into position, tighten it then test with stalk, then readjust as required.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
☼ BACK OFF ! ☼
The backup lights switch is located on the left side of the trans.
You’ll see a 2 wire harness going to it.
The wire colors are light green and dark blue.
You can verify if it’s the problem by connection a small bulb to the dark blue wire and ground.
Now the next time the backup lights fail to illuminate, see if the test bulb is illuminated.
If it is, you’ll know the problem is not the switch, but in the wiring going towards the rear.
There might be a bad connection in the connector at the left rear of the car.

Tat’s OK, you can still adjust the Dimmer by loosening the hardware at the bottom of the column, then slide it into position, tighten it then test with stalk, then readjust as required.
The play in your signal/dimmer stalk might be the problem, so get that tight to see if it will cure the problem.
No that has nothing to do with the problem, but it might be in the loose stalk.

Sorry for the late reply... Turns out the dimmer switch was done, I replaced it with a new one and it's working again

If you want lows to remain on with highs triggered, I make 4-HI harness conversions if interested. PM for info on it.

....lol, OK. Hopefully be design then. Having all 4 lights on is a killer amount of light when relay powered! I first did this on my 86 K10 and was amazed!
