Caddy power

I was looking at some fieros sites and i came across a 4.9L caddy powered Fiero. This is suppose to be the easiest swap for a fiero. So i gots to thinking. Why not swap one of these engines into a V6 camaro?

1) all alumunim
2)200 Hp
3) no need to change front springs
4) bolts up to v6 tranny
5)Maybe u can use fiero wiring diagram to use existing camaro harness with 4.9L

Use the 4.9L PFI engines or even the over head cam version. I think this would be such a sweet swap. I am pretty sure they made a RWD version or maybe the FWD can be converted to RWD?I am not sure about motor mounts either but there has to be something. right?I am not sure from a drag point how this engine is but from a handling point! the power of a V8 with the handleing of a V6

If your going to swap caddy, go with the big caddy. The 500ci 8.2L that thing is sweeeeeeeeeet . Actually is you want power and light weight use a 4.3 chevy. You can get around 275 or 300hp no problem. Also 90% of small block chevy parts will bolt to it.

The 4.3 is Iron and the 4.9 is aluminum its just as light as a 2.8. So from a handling point the 4.9 is better. also the 4.9 has more torque. I am not sure but doesnt the 4.3 share the small-block trans bolt pattern? I know the 4.9 shares the same as the 2.8.
This swap is more for v6 camaros then v8 because its easier

Yeah but from a cost stand point a 4.3 would be cheaper. There the same as a 350 except their missing the cylinders 5 and 6 I belive it is. Yes a transmission with a sbc v8 bolt pattern will fit a 4.3. Also just for the record a fiero weighs in at like 2200lbs or so while a V6 thirdgen weighs like 3100lbs(or so the title for my '89 says so) so the 200hp does more for the fiero than for a third gen.

A 4.3 is basically just a 350 with 2 cylinders chopped off.

If you where going to put a 4.3 in V6 camaro then there wouldnt be much point to that because then you could just put a 350. In a V6 camaro the trans bolts are different then a 4.3 or a 350. A 4.9L macthes that bolt pattern so you wont need a new trans or a adapter. And a 4.9L can use the existing harness with some Mods. so no rewireing the whole car.The engine is so light that there would be no need to change the front springs. and is lighter then the 4.3.

Also 200HP may sound like not alot but because of how light the engine is, i garantee that it would outproform a 305 at 230HP and OUT handle it.Dragging is not really this engines strong point. Its more for handleing

Handling? huh? what? who? oh you mean turning left or right, right? I'm a drag racing kinda guy. Cause I don't know why but all that power makes me feel like more of a man you know Just curious I don't know why I didn't ask this to begin with but how much does the 4.9L weigh and what kinda of power can you get out of it and what kinda performance stuff they make for it?
