Has anyone put one in a street driven F-body and what kind of 1/4 mile performance?

Its just a basic BBC swap, except you have to keep in mind its a tall-deck block, not a regular one like a 427 or 454.

Would have to assume based of some of what stephen has gone through with his motor, you'd be running into some A arm/header issues since it is a tall deck. As well as master cylinder clearnace issues and other problems that will pop up once you start trying to wedge it into place. Would not be a drop in and go swap by any means.

Would not expect anything less than 10.80's for that kind of coin, in the right car with the right combination would "expect" it to be in the mid to low 10 range.

They installed the high hp 572 in a "lighten" Nova and to the best of my knowledge they have not released the car's 1/4 mile performance yet but I have missed some shows. I feel that there is a reason for this, it has been together for awhile and of course a lighten Nova weights much less than a f-body, doe's anyone have any info? Oh and buy the way my 3900 lb. with driver F-body that has a Gen-5 "502" 9.5 compression (installed in 1995) street/strip warrior, 93 pump gas, in Drive and thru full exhaust ran 10.52 @128.75 last Saturday at Capitol raceway and has been 10.44 when I manually shift 2 nd. to 3 rd. @ 6000 rpm's ; 1.43 best 60 ft. with a 3.70 rear end. The reason for all of this on my car is because I am/was expecting that high compression 572 to run (even in a heavy car). Any info out there?

my tall deck 598 fits real good.cuustom headers are a must though.

weighed mine last time at the track and i was shocked that it weighed 3900 with me in it.

with a 2 speed glide and street legal(well kinda) it went 9.89 at 139.9 on motor with a 1.47 60ft.

What's your compression ratio and do you run pump gas? I am thinking of uping my compression if/when it's time for a rebuild. PS: I know a guy down the track that said he picked up 4/5 tenths in a 3700 lbs. chevelle going from a 400 to a powerglide, do you think he's full of $hit? Any one out there with a crate 572? PS: When I tell people that my car's weight with a full tank of gas and driver is 3900 lbs. they think I am full of $hit and I must be running a "572" but I had the car weighed on a certified within 20 lbs. scale.

mine has 15.1 compression and i run 116 octane fuel.price you pay for a high hp engine.the only way the guy picked up that much is if the converter he had was way off and the new converter is closer to what the motor needed or he had a lot of tire spin and the high geared glide stopped it.my car ran no faster when i swapped to a glide but elimanated the tire spin i had with a turbo350.my car also has a big plate kit and has been in the 8's with my old 540.the 598 has proven to be more than the tires can handle at this weight when the nitrous comes on.so the 598 will go into my 68 camaro that is tubbed and i will build another 540 or 598 that runs on pump gas so i can drive my 85 whenever i want.with a hp calculator using my mph and my weight shows the motor makes 987hp.it ran 153 on the plate and it spun some off the line ,that is 1288hp.
