I think I am in a predicament here. I had purchased from Jet a set of Hooker 2055's to install on my 87 IROC, 350 40 over. I'm installing a ZZ4 cam and have the aluminum ZZ4 heads, casting # 10088113.

The heads were an after-thought and I got them quite reasonably and decided to go with them rather than the vortec 906 castings I had. The aluminums have been ported and new springs, seats, seals, etc done. Well, I had already purchased the Hooker 2055's and now I don't think they will fit with these heads due to the D-port.

Does anyone know if they will work? Hooker Tech Support says no, but Chris at TPIS says they will and they do it fairly often.

If they won't fit, what headers would you all recommend to use with these heads, keeping in mind that I do not have duals, and have a high-flow cat, 3" pipes all the way back.

same header im using on my fastburn heads it is the best fitting shorty header for these heads you sould have no problem.

Which header are you using? Is it the one that 84Z28 listed from Summit?

I really appreciate all the help and advice you guys are giving, thanks a bunch. Using those long tube headers, seems like I will be losing some ground clearance and such huh?

Ok, that's awesome news to know. I was told by Hooker Tech support that they would not fit because of the D-Port exhaust. That the 1 5/8" wouldn't cover it properly and that I needed 1 3/4" otherwise it would leak.

How do you like the 2055's? From everything I've read on them, they are to be pretty good.

I have the the hedman 68468 for my car. i havent put them on yet but I have seen pic's and I dont thnik its to bad but I am also have moroso spial muffler for a true dual set up and it exits right before the rear tire those mufflers save alot of space.

i think that they are the best shorty header out there and the y-pipe is great i run 3'' from the y-pipe back. when you get your headers test fit your header gasket this should show you where the haeder will sit i think i did grind a little bit of the top of the gasket and top of the header tube just for peace of mind.

I am rebuilding the engine and am anxious to get it back in and on the street. I need a new muffler as well. I have a hi-flow cat and 3" all the way to the rear.

I have been trying to listen to some of the sound clips, but not sure which muffler to choose. Which ones do you all like?

That's the experience I have with 1 5/8" headers and raised-exhaust port heads. Check them and see how badly they're off. You can grind on the top of the flange if you're careful. Also, use a gasket with a raised port design, like ones for an L98 Corvette or LT1.

the fastburn heads have a higher raised d-port then the L-98 an LT1 heads and i got my hookers to seal you should be right on the money with your set-up
