1985 IROC Z Camaro

Hey

I have a 1985 IROC Z Camaro with the 305 tpi engine. I am wondering what kind of headers/catback exhaust you guys have for ur 1985 Camaros. Everywhere I look I can only find headers that fit 86 - 92. What goin on with that. So guys tell me what kinda headers and CatBack you guys use.

Thanks alot

The only difference in the specific models of the Headers is the y-pipe size I believe on how it connects to the cat, so if you're getting headers just order the cheapest ones you can from a specific brand and match the fittings up if you're also getting a cat-back. Be sure that the headers come with a 3" y-pipe.
I would suggest the Hooker, but listen to people's sound clips and decide which you think sounds the best, mine is in my signature and that's with a non-hi flo cat.

Before Mark can plug Hooker cat-backs, I HIGHLY reccomend getting a Flowmaster system. My car was done today and it sounds great. Got a lot of looks driving around. It is loud and very aggressive. Just my 2 cents

The 86'-92' cat was different than your 85'. You have a 4-bolt flange-type, where the 86' and later has a slip-fit. If you're changing the entire exhaust, then go ahead and get the headers, cat and cat-back for the 86'.

Not to step on anyone's toes but I don't recommend the Flowmaster crossflow system. The Hooker sounds better - I've
had both.

If you want any performance out of a new exhaust, stay away from Flowmaster. Random Technology is the best all around exhaust system. It is a little more expensive but at least it flows.

For my 85 Z28 I bought the exhaust, cat and headers for the 86+ camaros' since I didn't want to mess with our bastard year for performance exhaust. All the hangers are the same and I had no problems since I upgraded the entire exhaust system.

For a stock/near stock 305 even I wouldn't recommend Flowmaster.

Somewhat off-topic, but I played Mark's sound clip on the computer at home; my wife, who didn't know what I was doing, asked me how I got a recording of the Camaro on the computer.

Must be a lot of difference between Hooker & Flowmaster...

(Mark, don't you know how to speed-shift that MegaShifter?)
