hey guys check out my setup and tell me what u think.i paid 45 for the air cleaner(ebay) 5 bucks a piece for the tubes and four bucks for the ducting.it`s just a mock up but when i get done i think it will work pretty good,not really for the ram air effect but cold air mostly.any suggestions would be nice

Yeah i know it looks funny but as i said it`s still a mock up.i plan on taking the another air cleaner and welding a 4 inch tube ,half for the lid and the other half for the bottom so i can connect a 4inch rubber tube to the tpi air cleaner

i`m still working on it.i just had the regular grill.all i did was take it off and put the bowtie on so i really don`t have much of anything to bolt the mesh up to but like i said i`m working on it.

The bottom 1/2 of that TPI cai would give you a sealed place to bring air in without any additional fabrication.

looks good. do you have any problems with cooling since you have those ducts right infront of the radiator? or have you driven it yet? a grill would help to hide the ducts but some black spray paint would do wonders! i've seen people do stuff like this before but i have the steel bumper in the way of getting ducts like that in my car...do some cars have different bumpers??

i don`t have any cooling problems at all(the condenser has been removed) in a sense i kinda like the tubes showing lol

i`ve also thought about putting some small lights right above the tubes so that way it will reflect off of them ,probably blue or red ,i haven`t decided yet.

the old school muscle car look is what i`m actually trying to accomplish.with a few modern things thrown in. but on a budget it gets a little difficult.but hey the best thing about that is i can use more of my imagination.

To be honest with you I think it’s kinda ugly… It either needs to be more dressed up to look more OEM or the rest of the car needs to take a more “form follows function” look to it. Right now it has a sorta industrial out of place look that I couldn’t justify for something that wasn’t a race car.

If you made flanges for the ends of the duct work (they make rectangular to round adaptors for that stuff) to make the round tubes mate up to the squared off openings and then possibly painted it flat or semi gloss black they would look much better.

The duct work from that assembly to the air cleaner assembly really needs to flair out to the full width of the air cleaner to look right like it is (you really need some metal working/welding skills to do it right), but again, it would look miles better if it was painted semi gloss.

From a function stand point I bet it works pretty well, but I’m not sure that it looks as impressive as the more traditional dual snorkel assembly but it’s probably functionally better

not trying to be rude,but if you would`ve read the whole post i`ve been putting up i `m going to do exactly what you had just suggested.like i said not trying to be rude.everything is still in a "work in progress"state right now,still just a working mock up until i get the metal work done.but thanks for your opinion.

That looks a pertty cool idea, and a nice solution for the TBI. I know this may sound kind of stupid, but did you notice any difference in driving it with this setup?

Also for that to work on mine, I have to move my Dixie Horn.

yeah it made a little difference.when it`s colder out the throttles a little more responsive but nothing to serious.mostly feel a bigger difference when i`m doing about 60.

Looks good. But you may want to try to seal the elbow tubes to the filters.

Did you have to cut anything? What about your THERMAC?

no actually i`m still running the round filter for now.i`m still waiting until tax time until i finish the whole setup.i removed eveything for the thermac along time ago

where did u get that air box that says tbi on it.....im interested in tryin to fab somethni like that......i just got a tpi intake and wanna fab it up...i know u got it off ebay...but do u know where i coudl buy an air box like that

the air box is actually a regular one from a gm truck,i don`t know which one exactly because it was on the car when i bought it.just look in a junkyard i`m sure you`ll find one.ask one of the moderators maybe they can give you more info.

i did the same thing on my actual tpi. but i used the flexible stuff (was like $5 for about 15 feet) and it runs from the back of the foglights to my tpi airfilters. you cant see it because of the foglights but it brings in just about the coldest air possible!

my buddy Jason from gcfba.net did that last year he picked up .3 tenths in his peg leg 92 rs with that mod. It's actually a cool mod if i still had tbi i'd do it!
