Check the casting numbers at the back of the block behind the driver side head, or measure the bore. There are no other ways.

very true...

if you happen to have the heads off its quite apparent.. measure the bore.. otherwise the blocks are more or less identical,, minus maybe the number of main caps

All parts are interchangeable, except pistons.

More or less.

well it all depends on how mechnicallyinclined you are and how much trouble you like to have and how muvch $$ you like to spend

if it were mine i would be leaving it fuel injected and use 350 injectors and computer from a donor car that was a 350

for real..

save yoursel trouble and get the car going again as soon as you can, or youll have it down and undriveable forever and ever and then be wishig oyu could drive it

trust me.,

good luck

All parts from the 305 block to the "350" block are interchangeable.. Just keep in mind if you try mix parts from the 350 block with the parts from the 305 they are not always the same.. The waterpump on you 1992 305 is most likely not going to interchange with the rest of your crap from the 350.

Also you really need to know what year the "350" block actually is.. If the block is 1987+ you have a hydraulic roller cam block, if its prior 1986 and back its most likely a flat tappet hydraulic camshaft.. The problem with this is obviously the stock roller cam will not fit into the non roller block. On top of that the engine may use different lifters if its not a post 1987 block.

In this case (if its prior to 1987) the valve train on the new block will not match your 1992 305's valvetrain.
