SUPER rare 1983 Camaro Iroc-Z!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...0704&viewitem=

I told him the first Iroc-Z's were in 1985... he replied with:
There were iroc-z28 before 1985, Chevy redid the iroc for 1985
Anyone else want to school him a little? He apparently doesn't believe me...

Re: SUPER rare 1983 Camaro Iroc-Z!

"1980 was the last season for IROC until it was "reborn" in 1984. For the 1984 season, up until the 1989 season, IROC chose the "newly" designed Camaro Z/28 as their ride."

There were no 81/82/83 IROC races at all...So...In no way possible, could it be an IROC!

Re: SUPER rare 1983 Camaro Iroc-Z!

I sent him a pleasant email. Hopefully he will check his facts and change the wording to eliminate IROC.

Re: SUPER rare 1983 Camaro Iroc-Z!

I'm sorry, but I'm going to side with the seller on this one. In 1983, they acutally had two, yes two, IROC options available.

Here's an auction for the other IROC option

That is not a Camaro. I think the point is that there was not an IROC Camaro available from Chevrolet in 1983.

My appologies to you and JamesC at my attempt at humor of those that throw an IROC tag on anything Camaro related.

The OP "SUPER rare 1983 Camaro Iroc-Z! " <- sarcastic
Me "1983 Chevrolet El Camino Iroc" <-sarcasm somehow lost

Re: SUPER rare 1983 Camaro Iroc-Z!

No biggie.

I also get a kick out of other ebay items such as...
1LE windshield wipers, 1LE mirror gaskets and 1LE arm rests.

Granted, I'm sure part of that is to broaden their potential hits, still funny tho.

Re: SUPER rare 1983 Camaro Iroc-Z!

Geez....His eBay response to me.... "Dear s_cranford,

It a z28 With Iroc parts thanks for looking.

- erigre83"

I guess having parts makes it OK? I told him he needs to reword his ad & clarify that.

That is not a Monte SS nose. The kit on the El Camino was manufactured by Choo-Choo Customs in Tennessee. It was supposed to look like an IROC-Z nose for El Camino SS conversions. That in no way even resembles the Monte SS front end.

Somehow my Reply went to the wrong thread. That reply was meant for the thread about the El Camino with the Aero nose.

The thread was saying a Camaro nose...I can't find the post now.

Your original reply seemed serious enough. With some of the incorrect statements made on this message board by otherwise well-intentioned people, we can't assume anything!

To clarify another of the posts here--although there was an IROC series going back to 1974, and Camaros were used since the mid-1970s, as most of us know there were no factory IROC-Z Camaros made prior to the 1985 model year.

Unlike the seller, most of us also know that "Muncie" is a transmission, and "Munzy" is...well, a nickname for your imaginary friend. Sounds like a real gearhead.

Best part is... those are the proper ground effects for the 82-84 Z28. He just doesn't seem to get it I guess.

Agreed...the biggest giveaway is in front. The nose GFX was very distinctively different for '82-'84, with horizontal slots and a "flatter" appearance.

I believe the side GFX is different on 85-90. They are lower and slightly larger.
