1987 IROC Z Convertible

Hey all, I have noticed from some production numbers that there were only 744 Z-28, and IROC convertibles made, I have an IROC Conv 5 speed, and was just curious as to how many IROC only convertibles they made with a 5 speed manual?

And on a side note, it's a burgundy color, trimmed with gold rims and gold stripes, with a 20th anniv emblem on the dash.

Thanks to anyone who has any info on this vehicle.

We won't know how many of the 744 were IROC-Zs. Right now, the belief is that most of them are IROC-Zs and very few are Z28. Since the IROC-Z was an option package of the Z28, the 744 count includes all Z28s. GM did not keep option combinations, that's why it can't be narrowed further. Now, of the 744, the rarest being the Z28, I believe the 5 speed comes in a close second in the rarity column.

Please do me and you both a favor and don't tell me where you live, it would be too tempting for me to come and steal it . In all seriousness when I was first looking for 3rd gen, a convertible 5 speed was exactly what I wanted and I didn't care about anything else and in 6 months I found 2 one was in OK an 87 blue sport coupe on ebay and the guy was saying how rare it was but I think it was because it was a sport coupe convertible and my plan was to make it look like on IROC or Z28 (just with ground effects not the decals) and the other one was in CT an 88 sport coupe from the classified section on this site, I live in MN and both of these cars were a little out of my price range and were kind of rough or maybe not rough but I was gonna have to do a lot of work to get them to be what I wanted. So I would have to say that that is probably the hardest combo to find. A little bit of serious advice though hang onto it because it will be pretty hard to replace I even looked at auto convertibles and converting them to manuals and even a convertible is hard to find and the people that have them seem to know how rare they are and it is hard to find a deal on a 3rd gen convertible period. So I can't speak for how rare they are number wise but they sure are hard to find today. Sounds like an awesome car do you have any pics? By the way I'm not sure where you are from but if you ever do decide to sell it could you please let me know first.

That thing is sweet and really clean. I'm not wild about the color but believe me I wouldn't turn it down. How many miles are on it? Great looking ride and welcome to TGO.

I personally LOVE that color. I had an 86 the same color. May it rest in piece. Beautiful car you got there.
