Welcome to TGO. You might consider a search; however, IIRC, the stalk is removed by twisting and pulling (the wiring is disconnected under the dash at the base of the steering column); the wheel doesn't need to be removed.

Re: turn signal switch

The steering wheel lock, as in the plate with the notches all the way around that the plastic piece goes through to lock the wheel in place.

You'll need a "lock plate remover" tool to get past it. It compresses that plate down, and then there's a pain-in-the-*** snap ring than needs to be removed.

I'd snag a Haynes manual while your at the parts store getting your "remover". It'll save a lot of headaches, cause you can read ahead and have somewhat of an idea of what your up against.

What "computer thing"? That confuses me.

Re: turn signal switch

I had to do this before on my 86 Iroc. The turn signal switch snapped when I hit the lever and when that happened every time I made a turn the horn would go off because a piece of metal that broke off was connecting the contacts. That was alot of fun.But anyway once you get the lock ring and plate removed there are a couple phillips screws that hold the actual turn signal (cam)switch in place.Remove them,Disconnect the harness connector by the lower part of the steering shaft and slide it out through the column. You will most likely have to drop the column to do that part.Installation is the exact opposite.Just make sure it works before you put the column back together.Took me about 30 minutes to do.
