Getting ready to get the 5.3/T56 in...have a clutch pedal question??

Hey guys. This has probably been asked numerous times and I tried a search and read the sticky but my quesiton still remains. Basically I want to have the most correct feeling clutch pedal set up that I can get. I have heard that when using the LS1 4th gen pedals with an LS1 clutch linkage, the pedal sits low. I am using my stock 3rd gen pedals with a complete new LS1 T56 hydraulic clutch linkage assembly and just want to make completely sure that this will have the correct "feel." Anybody that has this set up that can tell me how it is?

Thanks all

I'm using 4th gen pedals, the clutch pedal doesn't sit low at all. It's got great feel (I'm using the LS7 clutch/flywheel assy).

I haven't had a 3rd gen manual vehicle, and my '82 pre-dated hydraulic clutches, so I was starting from scratch. From what I've gathered, it's more a matter of what you start with - if you have 3rd gen pedals (hydraulic, anyway), us 'em. If not, take your pick.

Hmmm, thats odd. Seems like it's more a preference based on the person when judging how it actually "feels." I have read a bunch of times from different people that when using 4th gen pedals and 4th gen hydraulics, that it sits low. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a brand new LS1 clutch linkage set up and just want to be sure it'll work good with 3rd gen pedals (since it's not cheap, lol). I know I can get it to work but I'd like the most factory feeling clutch pedal I can get. I'm using a Textralia clutch which supposedly has a close to factory pedal feel.

In my experience the lsx fbody pedal assembly sits higher out than the stock 3rd gen pedal assembly... I was able to use the stock pedals when i had a lt1 style t56 in the car so it felt the same then when i swapped to the lsx t56 it seemed that the pedal was higher not lower.

Same here, i'm running the 4th gen brake/clutch pedals and my clutch pedal sits higher than the brake pedal.

I am using my stock pedals with the T56 setup and it feels great to me, wish you were close enough just to try it out and see what you think.

Me too

But if it feels great to you then I'm sure I won't mind it at all, since thats the setup I think I'm going to go with. On another note, anybody have experience or know if a Tick master is worth it over a new stock peice?? Just wondering if the price it costs is worth what it does lol.

I got lucky, i got a slave and master used from hawks, i just used the master and it works great, i have heard stories of nightmares with the stock master and slave, but they were always higher mileage and abused with no maintenance.

the earlier pre-01 slaves and masters were junk. thats why most of those cars had the problem with the pedal going to the floor and staying there. Every new slave you buy from gm is the updated part with the fix for this.

Awesome! Well I decided to buy a brand new stock unit over the Tick master so it should work out fine for now. I'm glad they fixed the pedal problems with the updated ones. I actually owned a 2000 Firehawk and had the pedal go to the floor one night when I was on the gas. I freaked out lol....thought I killed the trans or something. Gave it a few pumps and it sprung back up.

Are you talking about the "drill mod", or something else?

My MC is a 2000. I did the drill mode before anything went together. It hasn't given me any issues, including at the track.
