LT1 swap radiator hose questions (with diagram for future reference)
I've looked up some answers on how to route the hoses but I still have a couple questions. Also I wanted to clarify that the hoses you use are a '94/'95 Camaro upper hose and a C4 Corvette lower hose?
Question 1: Does it matter that the LT1 is reverse flow cooling and you run the top thermostat hose to the lower passenger side of the radiator?
Question 2: Can someone take a look at the file I've attached and verify that I've correctly identified the color coded outlets. Sorry some are not entirely visible.
Yellow: To heater core (which side of core to be determined by outlet size I suppose)
Red: To lower passenger side of 3rd gen radiator (also confirm answer in Question 1 please)
Green: To top driver side of 3rd gen radiator
Blue: To...?
Purple: To heater core
Question 3: What should connect to the outlet on the 3rd gen radiator just beneath the overflow outlet? On my LSx swap, the outlet in question goes to a steam vent outlet on the coolant crossover tubes under the LSx intake manifold. I'm lost on what goes to this for an LTx swap though.

Blue gets capped off, think you can also get a corvette pump, or might be the b body pump that its just completely closed off, dont remember which.
Yes it looks like you have the routing correct, the steam vent coming from the back of the heads goes in the upper hose connected to the drivers side radiator connection.
The heater hose sized connection on the radiator depends on how you hookup the heater hoses, mainly whether you use the bypass valve or not.

Awesome, thanks for the help. I forgot there was a steam vent on the back side of the block so that would make sense. I also think we have some heater valves laying around here, would be nice if we can get the system to function properly instead of getting hot air in the car all the time (like in my blue car).

question 3: this is where it gets interesting. the "blue" tube connects here. i had to tap that tube with a hammer 180 degrees-ish so its kinda shootin over twoards the pass side. it wont make it leak by tapping it. its just pressed in. then i just had a random heater hose lying around that had a 90 degree bend in the end so it just went across and hooked there.
if ya want a pic of it on my car i can take ya one in the mornin... hope this helps ya.

If you ran the "blue" outlet to the steam vent outlet on the passenger side of the radiator, what did you do with the steam vent on the back side of the engine block? Block that off?

negative. the upper hose for a 1994 camaro has a stam hose on it so i used a brass fitting to mate them together.

If you are keeping the heater bypass valve the blue outlet will not go there.
The blue should be capped off, it was used for the oil cooler on the F bodys, and capped off on either (or both) the corvette and/or bbody.

it depended on the car. if the car didnt have a oil cooler it was just a hose that went from the water pump to the lower left on a 4th gen radiator. so i just went to the only opening on a 3rd gen rad.

I seem to remember seeing a hose like the Dayco one you linked above on my friend's '96 SS which is what car this motor came out of, but he had the oil cooler option. Hmm...

I have a few more questions on hose routing I'm hoping you can help with.
First off should be an easy one. This is the nipple for the brake booster hose on an LT1 right?
Now I've got a few pictures for more heater hose questions. We are going to be using the factory 3rd gen heater bypass valve that is vacuum operated.
First off these pics show the coolant crossover pipe between the backs of the cylinder heads. I didn't see a nipple on the other end of these in the rear like was mentioned earlier in this thread. However, there is a rubber hose at the front end of this pipe that goes over to a nipple on the driver side of the throttle body.
This pic shows the rubber hose I mentioned, it connects the crossover tube to a nipple on the driver side. This comes into play later in the post when I ask about the upper outlet on the radiator just below the overflow nipple.
Now here I have the vacuum operated valve, but I'm kind of lost on how to route the hoses. I was looking at a 3rd gen dealer manual but I believe the LT1 water pump has more outlets than a 3rd gen one so that's where our confusion comes in. Based on a 3rd gen design, the two green arrows should connect to one another. But the rubber hose on the coolant crossover tube connects to the other end of the throttle body which doesn't make any sense.
Also according to a third gen design, the blue arrow would go to the "T" in the heater hose that bolts to the frame rail down below the a/c condenser. And the red arrow would go to the firewall on one of the heater core outlets.
This pic shows the upper radiator outlet that is just below the overflow outlet. Based on a third gen design, you have one heater core outlet that goes to the valve (pictured above) and the other one goes into a really long heater line that bolts to the frame rail that has a "T" in it. The T goes to the other outlet on the valve (also mentioned above), and then the forward end of the line goes to the upper radiator outlet.
Now, with all this being said, I have nothing to connect to the two ports on the water pump for the heater core...lol What am I missing here? I'm looking at diagrams and it's looking like the heater control valve just hooks up to the crossover tubes and the throttle body but I'm not having anything to actually go to the water pump itself...

The control valve should be setup with the factory hardline like the stock routing.
The hose that #6 points to will go to one connection on the water pump
#3 goes to the other connection on the water pump, cap off the extra on the water pump drivers side and passenger side radiator tank.
The small steam vent hose coming from the back of the heads to the small line in the upper radiator hose. Unless you do want the throttle body heater, then just hookup the tb connections inline within that path.

Hey guys I'm going to be tackling this in a couple of weeks so I'm doing some research. Lt1 from a 95 camaro is going into my 91 Z28. Just wondering if you guys can confirm what hoses I should purchase for the swap( is it the 95 camaro upper and the corvette lower I should buy?
Also if one of you guys wouldn't mind posting a picture of the finished product that would be great

Found a pretty easy solution (I think) to the heater control valve and heater core lines. I went to Advance Auto Parts and picked up this vacuum operated control valve with four outlets.
It's upside down in the picture, but the bottom right outlet will be the pressure side from the water pump, the one above that will be the pressure side from the valve to the heater core, and the top right one will be the return from the heater core to the valve. The one on the opposite side will be the return to the lower port on the water pump. I have to get two more hoses to go from the pump to the valve and from the valve to the pump. The way I have it situated in the engine compartment will require some special "S" shaped hoses. Once I get those I will post part numbers for everyone. I've got the part number for the valve at the garage too, I'll post that up. I did have to get a reducer fitting for the vacuum line because the nipple on this valve is smaller than the one on the third gen valve.

let me know how this works out for you. I have my coolant hoses routed exactly like you are doing for my 88 Iroc swap and I ran into "running warm" issues with mine. Mine will run around 210 with just water and water wetter only, with a 160 high flow with the pcm programmed for it.

The part number for the 4 way control valve is 74797 (4 seasons part number). The two hoses going from the valve to the firewall are just off the shelf straight hoses in the correct diameter. Then I have two pre-bent hoses going from the pump to the valve for the pressure side and return side for when the valve is shut. These part numbers are 303625 & 304392 (dayco I believe).
I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Sorry I took the pictures at night holding a light up to the car so it's not the best quality. I'm probably going to fab up a bracket to mount the valve on the head so it's not "slouching" and will look more factory.
