500 dollar 1985 camaro

I was wondering if the pictured car was worth 500 bucks as its my first third gen. the car is rust free and has a 350 from a 80s truck swapped into it. it runs ok but wont idle and im not sure why, the back window was broken out last week by kids throwing rocks, the interior is in ok shape with the back seat having bad sun damage, lastly the tires have seen better days by far.

Re: 500 dollar 1985 camaro

Depends on what you're looking for. The car looks like a reasonable start for building a track car. It looks pretty rough inside to be a daily driver, though. It will take some cash to make the inside nice. If you're looking for a project, it would be worth it if the drivetrain is in good shape. If you have a bit more money, there are much nicer third gens available.

BTW, is the speedo original? I thought that the double pointer style wasn't used after 84.

The back glass can be expensive. I haven't checked used lately, but new they are more than you're talking paying for the car.

If you're not attached to a complete, nice interior, it's probably okay. Expect to have to put a lot of work and money into it.

I don't know what it is about this site sometimes....I've seen threads go for weeks before someone finally comments.

But I think it's worth $500, I'd say go for it

Re: 500 dollar 1985 camaro

ya id say go for it and i have hatch glass that im willing to sell you for cheap as long as you dont mind the shipping. i paid 1000 for my camaro and it has some rust, had a 3.1l in it which is now torn out and has sat for 3 years with no motor or trans. 500 is a good deal and junkyards are normally cheap when it comes to parts.

Re: 500 dollar 1985 camaro

Thanks you guys for responding and even offering to help sell me get a rear glass and offering ideas. i did buy the car and i found a rear glass from a pick and pull for 50 bucks its white but that dosent bother me as soon the car will be getting a paint job. After the oil was changed along with the oil being changed and new plugs, wires and distributer cap along with a new KN air filter the car purrs like a kitten and drives around the auto shop in college. I did figure out something though ...theres almost no brakes so any ideas on what to use for front calpers, pads and rotors along with drum pads for the rear plus what hardware would need replaced also if anyone has any of this they would be willing to sell id be very happy

Re: 500 dollar 1985 camaro

$500, go for it. You can probably part that thing out for more than $500 worst come to worst. But you can also rebuilt it and make a much better car than what it is now. I say go for it. You could even offer em 400 or 450 lol
