STR cast twin turbo manifolds

Did a search for STR and didnt come up with anything so figured I would ask.

Has anyone used these?

http://strco.net/cart/chevy-sbc-turb...fold-p-12.html

Wondering if they would fit with AC

Im building a 87 Cutlass right now and have the serpentine setup up off a camaro and will be keeping the AC. I'm really getting frustrated trying to find something that will work. Only thing im really seeing other than these is the ebay crap.

Do you have any idea if they will clear the AC compressor?

Whenever you decide to use them let us know how they fit, if you don't mind?
I've been looking at those for some time, just the money never been right. I had to spend it on other things.

after adding the wastegate i dont see how they will work, and no ebay headers will fit with out modding, the single header will fit but i heard the cross over wont fit with stock starter, need a mini. but for 700 i think u should try to make ur own,

I wont be using the ebay ones. I do have a mini starter, it got swapped in with the centerforce flywheel for the T56 swap.

I have since decided to go single turbo, I will most likely be fabbing my own setup from a flowmaster stainless pipe kit and putting the turbo where the battery currently is and relocating the battery to the trunk.

I dont mind helping anyone so it wouldn't be to much to make another set if you liked it.

This is what I'm thinking about doing. Flipping cast manifolds or either set of shorty headers and then running pipes like this one.
Then run it in behind grill to intercooler and back out other side and up to a blow through carb.

Hopefully I'll be putting this back in my vrt with a 383Lt1 but I can never make up my mind and might be getting rid of this turbo setup again.

Re: STR cast twin turbo manifolds

I am so tired of exhaust manifolds that do not fit. I've bought two pair the hugger headers and the headers that go forward (both stainless). There is not enough clearance with either. I tried fabing them myself, then sent them to someone. they returned them in pieces, and said they couldn't do it. I asked multiple people and shops in the area who all turned me down or said the could do it one night and the next day said they were too busy. So I broke down and went to banks power and bought the retardly expensive ones. If they don't fit Im giving up on the turbo idea. 1700$ for the manifolds from banks. I'll let you know if they,... WHEN they fit.

Re: STR cast twin turbo manifolds

wow... the str's are pretty much the same thing as the banks manifolds, or possibly better? i have the str manifolds but never did use them.

what is not "fitting"? doing a twin setup means basically nothing is going to fit and you will have to move everything around and/or get rid of some stuff. you will need center inlet turbine housings so the turbos will locate correctly.

you can get a set of stainless up and fowards that fit the car from jardines headers. but you will have to fabricate everything after the v-band on each.

there is tons and tons of fabrication with this sort of thing.

Re: STR cast twin turbo manifolds

On my car the hugger headers swoop out and up but hit the wheel well. The other headers that go straight firebird would leave zero clearance between the turbo and radiator, and on the other side it hits the steering column shaft and the alternator. I agree there is always some fabrication. I have never had any thing that just "bolts on"that's a myth as far as I'm concerned. Banks power said they will make them Wednesday and shipp next Thursday Pretty stoked

Re: STR cast twin turbo manifolds

I am going to buy a set of banks manifolds next week. So shopping for turbos. Do I need to shop for center inlet turbos or could I use a right hand and left hand drive turbo? It will be a show car so I was really hoping to go with the symmetrical look.

center inlets, otherwise you will have one turbo over the valve cover.
