Re: 30 Lbs of real R12 refrigerant-make offer!

The $70.00 price is what shops charge retail to install it in your system. The cost is probably closer to $30.00 per #, but before I retired the price on freon of all types changed monthly sometimes even weekly, and it went either up or down depending on supply and demand. Everytime I charged up a refrigeration system, I had to call the parts dept. to get the current price on the freon before I could bill out. A couple of years ago I talked with the owner of the a/c shop behind Don's shop and he was not converting systems to 134a unless the owner of the vehicle specifically wanted the car converted because r12 had dropped in price and 134a had gone up to the point that the difference in price for him was only $5.00-$10.00 per #.

Re: 30 Lbs of real R12 refrigerant

You might want to edit this post and take it p.m. If you don't have an EPA recovery license it is illegal for you to posses or sell R12. Because they still make it in Mexico, smuggling freon across the border was a bigger cash crop than drugs last I heard. I don't know if law enforcement is actively enforcing the law on freon, or if they are just trusting that without it being made here it is disappearing on its own, but why take chances.

Re: 30 Lbs of real R12 refrigerant

there is a guy on my local craigslist that has been trying to get rid of a 30lb can of r12 for several months he is asking $450 for it. I don't see the big hype over r12, r134a is just as good at cooling, you just have to know how to properly retrofit and charge the system. either refrigerant can give you a vent temp of 35 degrees.

How much do you want for the 30lb can of r134a?

Many of you fell for the biggest scam in US history! LOLOLOL. Take it from a pro. I am a chemical engineer. First of all you DO NOT need a license to own R12. Second of all, the reason for the ban has NOTHING to do with Ozone depletion. That is pure public relations BS. It all has to do with government. Plain and simple. Oh and by the way want to laugh again? CO2 toxic you say?, too much around? If you remember basic science, then you will realize that "carbon" is an element, found in nature naturally, necessary for life, and is also a building block for many other molecules. Did you ever ask a tree if it needs CO2 to survive? And don't forget we EXHALE CO2.

Believe in junk science, the EPA, and especially the UN and you will be in chains before you or any of your family realize what happened...
