Double vs. Bubble Flares

What's the difference between double flares and bubble flares? If someone could draw a picture in Paint or something that would be great.

Double flare is on the left, bubble on the right.

Are they both commonly used? And how does the bubble flare seal?

The double flare uses the standard SAE thread fittings; while the bubble flares use metric fittings, and are used on most, if not all, new vehicles today. GM started converting over to the metric ones in the mid 80's.
The bubble flare seals on the outside of the 'bubble', where the inverted nut squeezes it into the fitting.
