Oh, I misunderstood.
I've found the bushes on the stock a-arm can be seen from outside, unlike BMR's or UMI's a-arm.
So no need to drill...

Mostly. The ones you listed are 1983-92. They have another version for the 1982 cars.

Damnit I wish I had these on my UMI a-arms when I bought them in 2009. I don't think they offered these on them back then.. Now they do though thankfully. Mine do squeek now over bumps and uneven roads.

Greasing through the nipples doesn't solve that problem?

Put a lil motor oil on the poly pivit points. It works better than their sticky binding grease..

Going to try these tricks.. Do I just pour some oil over the bushings or does it have to be precisely on the pivot point? (like in between the metal and bushing right?) Thnx

Re: Delrin Bushings

Just put it on the parts that touch when they move, poly and metal. It may take some driving and a few times to get it all in there.

Oh, I didn't know simply greasing through the fitting cannot prevent poly squeaking...
Is that why many prefer Delrin?
Isn't it worth to pay for UMI or BMR tube a-arms with poly?

Bushings for stock A arms or rear control arms normally don't have grease zerks.

But Hellz-wings' A-arms are UMI's... which I think have grease nipples.

Avoid poly wherever you can.

People like delrin because:

It is self lubricating (no lube, no mess, no maintenance)
It is silent
Articulates very smoothly, no binding

Re: Delrin Bushings

Any thoughts on the AFCO Light Weight Bushings P/N 20077LW & 20069LW? They have the Delrin core, the only difference is the steel housing (as opposed to the aluminum GW version) and they're less expensive.

Which he stated in a earlier post, that his are a early set without zerks.

Those AFCOs look nice, a lot of friends use them in race cars..

Thank you for the information.
Then I just hope poly with those zerks won't squeak.

Re: Delrin Bushings

While poking around the Googles, I saw a remark to the effect that the Delrin bushings, while making for "tighter" ride, also make for a harsher ride. Not all of us are driving our Camaro's primarily as racers. Anybody with actual experience have an opinion on whether the Delrin bushings made the ride more harsh? Anybody wish that they had just use the rubber-dampened bushings to maintain a more civil ride?

With all the changes made to this chassis, I haven't noticed a "harsher" ride in any repsect. No excessive vibration passes into the steering wheel.
Certainly the choice of shock absorber will have a greater impact on the ride quality than the Delrin bushings.

I had the Delrin bushings put in at the same time as new 5662 front springs. So I can't say precisely what did what. But I will say that ride comfort was not changed in the slightest. It takes bumps better now than it did before.

Dumb question ... What are those nipple looking things that are pointing perpendicular ? Is that where the grease goes into the bushing?

Poly will squeek when cold unless you put anti-seize on everything when you put it together..

I used the supplied grease when I had them in my car and they squeeked when it was cold out.
After fighting with them for a few years, I completly took them apart, used anti-seize and a bit of motor oil on everything, bam, no squeeks ever again.

Anyone know anything about the long term durability of delrin? I think it's spohn that has delrin ball joints in their LCA's and provide a wrench for tightening them when they get sloppy. Doesn't really inspire a lot of confidence to me.

I have had delrin bushings from global west installed in my front A-arms for 20 years. They are still as good as new. the only way to go

My experience (not car related) is that delrin is used in sections with very high success rate if it is going in ONE direction (up-to-down, or left-to-right for example). I have seen people destroy delrin pieces by not using them properly as to how they are made or employing them in such a way that force isn't applied evenly. Overall though, it's pretty durable stuff. I'm not sure I'd want it on my A-arms though because it's a fairly hard substance overall and you'll definitely feel that.

Worth a shot if you're curious? I don't see why not. I still opted for MOOG standard bushings, though. Played it safe, I guess.

Re: Delrin Bushings

I just found some polyurethane bushings (brand new still in the packaging) from way back when (around 1995).....do I run 'em or spend the $ on delrin?

The problem with poly bushes for front a-arms is none of them have grease fittings.
I want to grease up bushes every time I change engine oil in order to prevent their early wear out, so grease fittings are a must for me.

The answer is obvious if you read the thread.

Depends... is it worth $140 to you? Because I spent $13 on my MOOG replacements (RockAuto), and I'm more than happy with those. Why spend the money if you already purchased a set of poly bushings that will work? It'd be one thing if it were cheap, but $140 is nowhere near the "cheap" spectrum.

Re: Delrin Bushings

Thank you for your 2 pennies and I can agree with you in regards to budget builds, with all due respect, the thread/my question isn't about cost savings. I would like to know if people prefer the delrin over polyurethane or if the end result is pretty much the same? I am willing to spend the $ if there is a difference from a handling perspective. I've never used poly control arms bushings but I have used the GW setup on other cars.

I seriously doubt you'll notice any difference between the polyurethane and/or the Delrin. To be fair, though - I've never used delrin in a car application. Delrin is good stuff.

FWIW: I actually don't have a budget build, and I still went with stock replacements because I happen to have poly and/or rod ends on the rest of the car and I'd rather not make the whole car stiff as a board. Haha. That was more my motivation over the cost hike, honestly.
