LT1 Cam In Carb Engine

Hello.
I have been hearing about how you can swap a LT1 roller cam with no problems into a L03 but I don't have a L03..... I have a Carbuarated 305 that will be ripped out in favor of TBI in the next 3 weeks.
I will put it in after I get the TBI down. However my big question is will it have the same performance ratings as a LO3 motor with a LT1 Cam swap?
Any And All Help Would Be Great
Thanks,
Erik

Ok, the 83 LG4 V8 was flat-tappet...I don't even think there are provisions for roller tappets. As far as a FI/TBI setup, I wouldn't...it's harder to tune fuel injection with a cam rather than just buying a 650 vaccum-secondary edelbrock or holley. Just ditch that old quadra-junk carb and put on a summit carb package, they are (I think) around 350-400 bucks and include carb, manifold, gaskets, etc... If you want awesome power with what you have now, go ahead and get more intake valve diameter. Get your heads machined for the biggest valves you can fit on a 305. Then buy some new valves; swirl polish & 3-angle cut them. I think people forgot more valve is better. Don't worry about the exhaust valve over the intake, it flows good enough for stock. If you don't want to buy valves, get a 3-angle cut on the stock ones, and swirl polish them. This will get TONS more air into your engine. If you don't understand me, I will create another post explaining it better. If you have any questions email me @ ws6formula89@hotmail.com

Hey I am getting this whole seup plus the Cerpintine Pulleys and Electric plus more off
a 1983 Camaro with a 91 RS engine in it. I get everything I need for the TBI, plus fog lights and all the little du dads most guys wouldn't care to take off a parts car. ( Fog Lights I can see. ) Did I mention this car is 200 bucks??
However I am not to big on the whole Carb them. I hate Electrionic Choke Carbs! I like Mechanical Choke way better. The fuel econonmy on this carbs are not all that great but you loose a good 300 pounds after getting all those wires and smog **** out of there.
I like the idea of a fuel injected carb..... its like where the new school guys and old school guys can get together. Its like..... The economy and power of Fuel Injection combined with the air flow and power of a Carb.
I could get a whole 350 with TPI for 400 bucks from a friend but I rather have a 400 then a 350.... plus you got to like the little mouse motor the 305 is. Everyone says its moer expensive to upgrade a 305...... 5000 spent right on the motor, trans, and rear end alone will get me into the 14's and maybe high 13's.
Well I just need my questions answered so I can get on this.... I want to be sure of what I am doing before I do it.... cause I have a 5 day gap to do it....... then I need the car again. So I better do it right and get everything done.
Thanks For The Info.
Erik
