95 or 96 LT1 Cam???

Which is overall the best cam? A 1995 stock LT1 or 1996 stock LT1 cam? I am upgrading from a stock 5.7L tbi cam.

I am installing Comp Cams 1418-16 roller rockers (1.6) with RHS heads with 2.02/1.60 valves 76cc chamber. 50mm ported edelbrock performer tbi intake with a 7.4L tbi base and cop car injectors (4327). 255pph fuel pump and afpr.

Need to know what the best cam is of the two that I have. I have looked at the following info on the LT1 cam threads, but not sure what to do. Help? Please? I have spent a few hours reading and now it's time to ask for help.

Thanks so much guys!!!

Re: 95 or 95 TA Cam???

Unfortunately, there is no part number on either cam. Only numbers stamped are the following:

1995 TA Cam GMPT BC 13 241

1996 TA Cam GMPT BC 15 705

Re: 95 or 95 TA Cam???

Seems that I find 4 different "spec" charts for 94-96 LT1 cams. They "supposedly" were all the same. Who's right? LOL!!!

HELP!!!

Simple, I just want to know if the specs are the same between the 95 and 9 LT1 cams and if anyone "really" knows what they are.

Re: 95 or 95 TA Cam???

93-95 LT1 202/207 @ 0.050" .450"/.460" Lift, LSA 116
96 LT1 200/207 @ 0.050" .447"/.459" LSA 117
You would be slightly better off with the 95 cam, For what you are doing I would go bigger than either of those.

Re: 95 or 95 TA Cam???

What would you recommend?
----------
I know that either of the LT1 cams are a lot better than my stock 350 TBI cam. I want something easily tuneable, but something to match my intake, fuel system and heads.

Comp Cams??? Which one?

LT1 cam's are easy for stock LO3's, since they do not require many modifications.

How much lift can LO5 take?

Re: 95 or 95 TA Cam???

Well, I bit the bullet, lol!!! Just purchased a Comp Cams 8-304-8. The cam, heads and other mods should bring a strong 350hp!!! YES!!!

The 1.6 rockers should bring my lift close to .544

Will let you know when it's done.

Thanks everyone for your help!

Re: 95 or 95 TA Cam???

I believe stock 193 heads can handle .480 MAX lift. It is safe to go with .475

That is my understanding.
